We have friends from Indonesian. They had the grandfather living with them and he always said "If the ocean ever runs away, get to high ground as quickly as you can. me and my soccer team were outside while it was raining and all of our hair stood up. i started screaming and a few of my friends did as well. i told everyone we needed to go inside immediately and we were in danger. the captains (the only juniors, oldest girls) rolled their eyes and told our coaches, to which the coaches said it was okay since we were scared. we proceeded to run to the nearest building and dried off. when we settled down, the captains decided it was not a valid reason to “run off irresponsibly and leave the equipment outside.” i was completely dumbfounded by this comment, so i said, “our hair was standing up, so we had to take shelter immediately….” they ROLLED THEIR EYES, and said “we know but you can’t just run off like that.” it completely baffles me at the amount of negligence they had. everyone explained that if your hair stands up during a storm it means you’re about to be struck by lightning, but no, we can’t run off and leave the equipment outside because it’s more important than our lives. crazy. thank you for your time :)
