I just get dizzy for the first while after I get a new pair of glasses. It takes a while for my eyes to adjust to the new prescription (they're slow to focus and adapt to changing light levels). I always hold my glasses to warm them before putting them on because cold anything is just the worst. Oh and I often have to bend them a little bit to fit my face shape better and to get the correct part of the lens in front of my eyes (I have a severe astigmatism and a tiny head which means there's only a very tiny part of the lens which provides the correct prescription). The opticians always tend to not quite shape them right when they go and heat them and slightly bend them, so I usually just get them to heat them and let me bend them myself because otherwise it takes so long. Honestly I dread having to get a new pair of glasses. Once I've settled into them a few days later its not so bad. But the actual beginning bit is just no fun.

The glasses are very.... 80s/early 90s. I remember the overly large plastic tortoiseshell style well. You couldn't not have that style. *sobs* I was so pleased when smaller frames came into fashion as I could finally wear something comfortable. I've always had a tiny head (I swear it stopped growing when I was like 5 or something) and back then the really large glasses like these never really fitted me well due to my prominent and high cheekbones. But I had to wear them anyway because that is all there was. The moment small metal framed glasses came in I rejoiced. Sadly this style has come back again so much that I can't actually get a new pair of glasses which fits my tiny head. Which sucks because my prescription is many many years out of date, but they just don't make the right size frames and lenses any more because apparently fashion is more important than being able to actually see. I'm not bitter. Honest. It just sucks because my prescription and degree of astigmatism is so strong that I can't get contact lenses instead. My EDS prevents me from being able to have laser surgery, and now glasses lenses are so large that they can't actually position my prescription within them properly to line up with my eyes. But YAY for fashion am I right? Yay for "looking smarter". (Yes I'm bitter about it because I can't have my vision properly corrected any more and it never got to 20/20 anyway. Have had to wear glasses since I was 4).
