I wish a movie could even begin to capture the feeling that rainworld gives of a world built of absolutely massive megastrucures. Like it goes beyond just being a large building, the very ground you walk on is all old machinery or rusted metal. The game sort of makes you feel like bacteria on a surface that is so large you cannot comprehend it.

Where does five pebbles really begin? His Can is his centre but how far out does his circuitry extend his control and "perception"?
@Boamere
@Boamere Жыл бұрын
@@TimSAksu judging by something he does in gourmands campaign he has access to gates around his territory in a large circular wall, I believe. When he unlocks the outer expanse gate for him he shows what looks like a map of the two iterator cans closed off by a giant circular wall. I think that wall is his limits. he himself is just the can but he can access the technology of his "grounds" as far as I know

This is the sound of calculation, measuring for a method to truly die... and the knowledge that all those they sought to do so for are gone now. I hear this and I think of our world, how power is put into the hands of so few, and some part of me asks, "Should we too place our faith in the hands of random gods?"

Sometimes I come for this video to relieve that odd feeling of frustration and just... Listen. Watch. Relate. Imagining abstractions of processes that might be happening inside of a gigantic supercomputer. Listening to organizedly chaotic noises and notes like if these were the sounds that my mind wants to say. Wants yet is unable and mostly not allowed to say. Solving along with Pebbles a seemingly strange task that might not even have a solution, yet it *must* have... This track brings some special kind of peace when needed....

I love the swift, frantic beeping switching between two melodies, almost giving the illusion of one continuous one. Reminds me of a nifty little trick used in microcontrollers, where a binary pin switches on and off at a certain speed to make it seem like it's one continuous signal with an output somewhere between the two states of on and off. A binary system doing all it can to give off the illusion of analogue, of the inconsistent and uncertain continuous wave of reality.

29:45 The way the music changes here, even if it's just slightly, it's like ... Ending. It's how an ending should be, or it's the realization that reality is.. how it is. Everything, is how it is, and that's how it's always going to be. How it is, is how it is. It could also be a metaphor for change. How the music starts off sounding the same for around a whole minute, until that part happens and it's that... gut wrenching feeling you get once something settles in. It's that... just.. weird, off-putting, climactic feeling. Indie games make me think too hard, meanwhile I also like to write poems or stories as a hobby, so there's that.

I think I get the name now. 5P is no longer trying to come up with logical solutions, maybe he ran out of those a long time ago, he is just trying alternatives at random now.
@starrs802
@starrs802 Жыл бұрын
He is tasked with an unsolvable problem. How to die in a world where you literly cant die. So he tryes an infinite amount of alternative ways. I think of. What happens if you get shot? You wake up where the circle begins What if the area you sleepd get destroyed the second the circle begins? You die in a loop until the you survive an insstance and sleep/save else where WHAT IFF we edd......you get what i mean He basicly has to calculate an infinite amount of possebiletys of outcomes The problem is that he dont has all the informations for example i dont think he knows about the void worms and there impact on the World so he does not include them in his search for a way to die. I also heard that at one point he stopded and begins to search for a way to die for himself. I think that was the point where he nearly killed moon by using all the water suply for his own calculations.

good point! although i think the name “random gods” refers to how iterators function. they set up a simulation with minute, random variation in it, then run that, along with countless others, simultaneously, over and over again with small variances in each, until eventually one finds a dialogue. the bugs in a maze remark from one of the radio antennas is a good metaphor. it’s similar to a contemporary thought experiment, where having a monkey w/ a typewriter locked in a room with nothing but time will eventually randomly write the works of shakespeare. iterators just do that with millions of monkeys randomly hitting keys at the same time till a result is obtained

Five pebbles and looks to the moon are tragically ironic characters in all aspects pebbles is a intact iterator all powerful super AIs inhabiting towering super computers that dwarf the cities built atop them he has godlike power running millions of iterations of problems and solutions and all he wants more than anything is to die yet moon is so broken and weak with only a handful of neuron flies to keep her just functional for speech all she has is just a small island made of her own destroyed can she could easily achieve the death pebbles wants but she still wants to live moons theme song sounds like the last whispers of a dying computer while pebbles sounds like the roar of a god machine both of them are in opposite scenarios and have opposite goals pebbles is cynical and easily annoyed by just your presence too caught up in his y achievable goal for death and moon is warm and welcoming even after eating one of her neuron flies she can still find it in herself to enjoy your company even though you have almost nothing to offer her
