Rather curious time management though (by both players) - with time running out it's often best to play a "good enough" move quickly and save a few seconds for a point when you really need to think and spot some tactics for or against you. A pity after some fine tactics earlier.

I would not be surprised if we find out that the website actually gives women some sort of advantage, in the name of "equality". So that is why a guy who's just a 2100 can beat a woman who's 2400.

There are a thousand stories in the naked city. None of those stories was relevant as I stared at the 8 by 8 grid and the pieces in front of me. My opponent could have been nameless and faceless for all the good those tidbits helped me. Somewhere, somehow I had to come up with a new plan to thwart his attack. Both clocks silently conspired against me. Skill or time will tell.

As a Non-Chess Player, I appreciate the Commentary as I find myself learning some of the strategies and can sometimes predict some of your/your opponents movements along the way. Breaking down everything as you go is really helpful, and throwing in little stories along the way (like accidentally spilling your beer at the Londen Chess club) is entertaining. Thank you!

being someone outside of the chess world with very limited knowledge of the game the voice over was really well done. i could think for mysellf about the moves at the same time you're thinking and you're saying enough for me to understand what's happening but not too much where i know what will happen even as a beginner i could think along with you through the game.

I love the music and the commentary. Although I’m not a great chess player your commentary makes me feel like I understand the position better because you break down what is happening in an easy to understand way. I found myself finding moves that I probably wouldn’t have normally because of the narrative quality of your commentary! This was an interesting game. I think, there was an inflection point where you were deciding to pressure his queen. I’m not sure if it would have worked, but I thought doubling your queen and king-side rook would’ve been better than pushing that pawn, because it seemed to open up the position in a way that benefitted him with his bishop on the long diagonal toward your king. I thought it would’ve also taken the pressure off of you because it’s a lower level chess move, but would’ve kept the position solid, taken off time pressure and allowed you to push your sizable advantage. I enjoy these chess videos!
