Oh Tom, the firsts are always hard when you loose someone you loved so dearly. Hang in there, you have such so much support around you. Its okay to cry and grieve. The kids seem to be coping and doing well. Asher seems to have really stepped up with little Hannah. Remember, its okay to change and adapt. You dont have to do things the way Andrea did them if its not working anymore. We are all here for you and the kids! Love from Australia!

I forgot to comment. Just breaks your heart to see him grieve. My husband died June 20th my birthday was one month after July 20th I did not even celebrate. Of course I do not have so many loved ones as Tom does.

Thank you for sharing these moments with us. I absolutely love your family. I loved seeing the teenagers fight the wind and seeing Solomon give you a hug as you were trying to get through opening your presents. Hannah like the other kids is so sweet...I loved how she stood up a second time in response to all the cheers she got for standing up the first time. Loved seeing Claudia proud of the artwork she created for your birthday. Your children are such a blessing and so are you. Not just for eachother but for the rest of us too. I am sure that I am not the only one who finds healing in your videos, having grown up in a family that was the opposite of yours in every way possible. So thank you. I know the present wrapping game was done in good faith but I find it a little insensitive... a special tradition Tom did for Andrea cannot and, in my opinion, shouldn’t be replaced by someone else. And many photos of Andrea too? -It must have already been a difficult day without collages of Tom’s wife from a stranger. But that’s just my thoughts and I apologise if I seem negative. I hope you had a wonderful birthday - you and the kids are doing great, especially with it being the first as a widow. If I can say so, it is okay to not always have Andrea be the focus of your videos and comments and to be able to have fun as life goes on. Lots of love and good thoughts.

I appreciate your opinion and concern. I'm not a "stranger". I did also consult with the person that has known him for his entire life before doing any of this. They have also gotten other very personalized things that KZbin land knows nothing about because they didn't make it in a video, though I'm sure those would have been praised and criticized as well. I did something similar to Justus present, only instead of wrapping it several times, I wrapped every single thing inside. It's something I've always done and wasn't actually learned from Tom. Did I know the pictures would be hard? Yes, but he will appreciate them later. Did I know the day would be hard? Yes, for more reasons than anyone knows. Did he know beforehand that it would make him cry? He absolutely did and he wanted to wait to open them until his birthday so he would have something to open. He'd had them for several days before and as you could tell he didn't even look through the box.

Tom. I know you didn’t ask for my advice but I would suggest you change things up this Christmas. Every special day ( especially for a few years are going to be difficult) start making a few new traditions with your kids. Even though life will never be the same, it can still be good; eventually. I was doing really well then Solomon hugged you and I lost it.. I was once told the way you know you loved someone and they left a permanent mark on your heart is how much you miss them.. I always always loved Andrea and your family, I never knew just how much of an impact she had on me until she sadly passed away. Not everyone gets to say they left a positive footprint on this earth. Andrea sure did and that is something that I hope that brings you and your children pride. She touched many lives and it may seem odd since many of us never met her but I truly grieve and miss her and know she is proud of how your family pulled together and is keeping her memory alive. This video was an emotional roller coaster. I was laughing when Judah was zooming in on people. Cried when I saw knuckles. Cried when Tom started crying because it's his first Birthday without Andrea. Cried when I saw pictures of Andrea.
