That is a nice shade of grey used for the background. The cubes also add a nice touch to what would otherwise be a plain canvas. Additionally, the cubes on the ground make the entire ground look more dynamic and less boring. The checkered pattern at 0:25 and the different environment at 0:34 break up the monotony of the previous backgrounds and add some variety to the piece. Overall, the use of these elements really makes this amazing.
