It's great the community's coming together but there are also groups of what I call "Loyalists," not that they're loyal to Gaijin, but they're simply pessimistic. They often give me the "Gaijin won't change" reason to NOT protest Gaijin's degradation into greed. Now, many of these players are new blood (2019 start dates) with a few pre-2019 players, so they did not experience the fairly good economy of the old. You should NEVER lose SLs on a win. That should simply be not possible. Remove repair cost or half it for the winning team, that way winning is rewarded, players once again would have an insentive to try and win, not just camp and get kills and 1 spawn quitting would be discouraged.

as someone who was way above avarage player in warthunder, competed numerous times in SRE battles and being in a clan that reached top 5 SRE clan every time. i quit playing the game over 3 years ago due to the tedious grind. even back then it took way too long to grind any of the top tier vehicles. i would be fine with 4 day grind if it didnt take another 4 days to spade the damn vehicle. this was with premium mind you. at one point i ran out of my premium subscription and decided to play few game without prem, even with KD of +5 i barely made my money back from those matches unless i used premium vehicles. thats when i decided to quit, the game had turnes from slightly annoying grind to tedious and non rewarding grind.

Over the years they have been slowly reducing rewards and increasing costs and one day it was inevitable that it would hit the ceiling. Premium rewards went slowly from premium to literaly what a regular game should have as rewards and regular rewards (nopremium) went from getting even to being almost always negative or ridiculously small gains.

One of the biggest example is Enduring Confrontation. As a average player, *with premium time and a ship* I made 500k for a four and a half hour session. And I thought that was low for a battle time that long. But it’s the only place where I’ve been able to make any meaningful amount of SL to train crews, buy vehicles and upgrades, and do repairs on TT vehicles.

What i did have was a premium ka-50 helicopter that i bought as a gift(i never buy premium vehicles) and in the pve heli event that is ongoing since forever i can make up to 500-600k with 300-500% silver lion boosters for a 30-60minute game. Otherwise im broke as hell if i play anything above mid BR without premium acc. But not everyone will get a 50€ premium helicopter to make money and it shouldnt be the case either, just an example why i havent completely quit over the years lol, because i have this money making monster in my hangar

That has only happened three times before and when it happened before Gaijin reacted quickly and decisively to at least sort of fix the issue at hand to get the players playing and the money flowing. The problem is that most of the player base has been acting like douche bags to each other rather than actually trying put pressure on Gaijin to actually make the game better. Gaijin has gotten so used to this that they over time they just took more and more and more from the playerbase until the playerbase finally snapped. As for Nordern saying that Gaijin was actually good when Nordern was being sponsored by Raid, they very much weren't. They were barely better than Raid. The difference is that most of the WT playerbase was either accepting or ignorant of Gaijin deliberately making life harder and harder on them. Gaijin has been going in this direction for more than 5 years.

I want everyone who is or was on the fence about the communities action of review bombing on steam to know this: At the start of the russian ukranian war, gaijin started to block all comments on their steam update posts saying they want to avoid politics from the war. This left the community with one less option to talk to gaijin. Players had to move either to the gaijin devblogs, which are moderated to the extent of not seeing a post that isnt pre approved, the reddit, which is heavily moderated by gaijin, and the gaijin fourms, which is even more heavily moderated then reddit. The community had no outreach and was left with the only option they had left that wouldnt be struck down for being honest. After the strike was organised and gaijin backed down on their economy changes, for the first time in years i saw the ability to comment on the steam news page. As of today, that steam news page sits at over 3,300 comments and still has 0 likes.

Followed by RU backers being able to freely talk in chat about what was happening while anything anti russian was chat banned. Problem being is they were only "Anti political" when it wasnt backing their politics. If it fell in line with their beliefs, reports lead to "Nothing was said or done that violated gaijin rules". This last time they punished everyone by completely blocking chat as a whole.

I liked playing Top Tier SPAA's because I despise CAS and it became kinda neccesary to have on on your team active at all times but the rewards for shooting down planes are nothing and don't outweight the repair costs. Without premium you just can't play Top Tier without sweating the entire match.

I do remember... solemnly remember when in 2013, 1 kill in arcade, using tiger 1, will give you 13k SL. Then they starting to nerf the SL gain respectively starting with rank 6 & other tech trees. But I remember one... one thing that strike the SL worst, is the introduction of atgm. Hoo boy, my average gain of 35k (7 kills avg) dropped to around 22-24k with the same kills.

One of my biggest gripes is what they charge for their premium content. They charge almost as much as a full fidelity aircraft module for DCS, when in WT its still very arcadey even on realistic battles. I get it they need to make money but they've always pushed the F2P players hard into the premium model. I like it, it can be fun, but the grind even on low tiers is just a confusing insane mess. And they've done nothing but add more and more high tier and/or way to expensive premium content and at the same time make it harder to grind to that content. I'm honestly surprised WT is still going.

I'm one of those with months actually flying/sailing/driving various planes/ships/vehicles. And yeah, the grind (economy) got so bad that it alone would have made me quit, the average skill gap (the remaining players are more hardcore) got so bad too, I went from essentially holding back with sh*tty vehicles, to getting trounced with my best vehicles. Haven't played the game consistently for half a year now.

Yeah I've known this was gonna happen since they added battle passes, I've been preparing for this, and maybe my prayers will be answered and gain collapses under the weight of their failures or they make the game fun again, either way something will happen and it better be something that the player will benefit

I stopped playing a year ago, when I realised that it took me 4 years of casual playing to even reach a King Tiger at 6.7. This is simply not worth it, you have to grind for EVERYTHING, even the ability to extinguish the fire on your vehicle, or repair most common battle damage. Without a premium account (and I'm never giving Gaijin my money) getting any sort of progression would be a second job.

As someone who’s been playing the game for several years now, I’m finally able to start research on the f-16. But I have lost so much money from playing stock top tier jets that now I’m at 7k sl, and I’m gonna need 1,000,000+ for the f-16. Not to mention crew training. I’ve quit playing the game for a few weeks and I don’t plan on touching it until the prices of everything come wayyy down. I’m talking a third of the current price. I don’t get why they don’t just charge 10 bucks for the game and allow people to unlock vehicle without having to grind the game for 10 years just to get to the next vehicle.

It was in realistic mode, so I was pissed because I kept wondering "why is he still alive?", so I killed him because I thought he had a extra life bonus or something. I'm kinda proud of the Warthunder community and I hope they will serve as inspiration for all gamer communities. Greed and gaslighting is nothing new, but I am glad people are now stepping up to say "enough is enough", so now they have to deal with more extreme consequences like review bombs and player strikes after driving the game to ever greater profits in complete disregard to the playerbase.

Honestly, the economy is only one of the major problems with the game. Just for ground forces alone, there is CAS, map design/balance, vehicle balance, and the lack of game modes. The game is over 10 years old, and there is basically 1 game mode for tanks, capture the circle. There have been entire AAA games started and finished in the time WT has been around, and yet, all we got is a bunch of vehicles to grind, and a busted PVE game mode. No sick combined arms persistent battlefield, no clever game modes leaning on the unique nature of the vehicles/game, not even a 'attack/defend a series of points' or 'protect the convoy' outside a few special events. This game is the perfect example of a sunk cost fallacy, and I think people are finally waking up to it.

I’m utterly convinced there’s also some bullshit going on with favoured matchmaking. I redownloaded war thunder a couple months ago, was just losing money on every game and was constantly uptiered in any match above 4.0, get a day of premium and lo and behold I’m downteired almost every second match instead of up-tiered. And shits just so ridiculously expensive. I could rebuy most of my catalogue of games (almost 2 decades of games) with how much it would cost to buy all of the premium vehicles or “pay to win guns”

I a player who has been playing for 3-4 years have played only Russia, Germany, Britain, and America tech trees and the highest I’ve gotten is 7.7 in the American ground and air tech trees (I’ve used premium account in the past as well) and with only one 11.3 vehicle being the M1A1 AIM and I can’t even have access to cas or a helicopter and I can’t even use a backup vehicle that doesn’t suck down my SL when I die 8 seconds after spawning because someone’s spawn camping. The economy is even more fucked to people who use squadron vehicles because they don’t know how to use them and they just spend money to spade it and are forced to buy a premium jet or helicopter to have a line up.

Been playing for a decade or so casual warthunder player, way before they added enlisted on the gaijin launcher. Had to stop because of college, my PC is ordinary, had to play in costly gaming cafes, always re-installing the game everytime before I play.
