I bought a 5600G when it came out to run in a Truenas box, but only used the IGP to get it up and running. It was nice to be able to do basic setup without a discrete GPU. Then I’m running it headless, but I can always go back and plug it into a monitor to access the Bios or do diagnostics. I think it is good that AMD started putting a basic IGP in all of their 7000 series CPU’s like Intel for just that reason. These G/GT CPU’s are perfect for just a basic computer.

He said "5600", not the vanilla 5500. Of course the 5600 makes more sense for gaming if you're getting a discrete graphics card from the start, since the 5600 has: 1. Much larger L3 cache (32MB) compared to those of the 5500/GT/5600G L3 cache amount (only 16MB). 2. PCIe 4.0 support 3. Slightly higher clockspeeds. So yea, 5600 + RX 6600 is prolly the sweet spot right now for medium-tier gaming PC.

The chip with cooler cost 113€ at the time from a local big tech company, and total cost was around 280€ for all new parts (with a 550W PSU for future headroom). Normal everyday apps and browsing feel very smooth-which could be attributed to my 144hz monitor-and gaming performance is more than I asked for. asuming you watch TV with your living room PC, keep that 5600g. if you disable cpu boost in energy saving plan (by setting max cpu speed to 99%) it is one of the most efficient recent CPUs. it will draw only like 10w watching netflix and alike. Also if you have a discrete GPU, you can still connect the TV to the mainboard HDMI. this way desktop mode (incl watching netflix) uses the iGPU, while your GPU is maximum idle only consuming like 5-10w. As soon as you launch games, your dGPU does still the computation, while the output still goes via your mainboard. windows even allows setting each application manually which GPU to use. feature is called hybrid graphics and receives much much tooo less attention for power savin.

Also running 16GB of G.Skill DDR4 RAM running its full 3600MHz CL17 with this processor now, vs when I had to run it at 3200MHz CL17 with the Ryzen 5 1600X, which itself was all core overclocked to 4.0GHz at 1.368 volts on the dot.

I still don't understand what 'minimum framerate' is if it's higher than the percentile lows. Can someone explain this to me?
@Just_a_jinx_lol10 ай бұрын
My guess is that min frame rate is sustained for longer periods then 1% and 0.1% lows as they are usually only for a second
@PenCil589910 ай бұрын
@@Just_a_jinx_lol I thought 1% means the lowest 1% of the whole duration of the benchmark, not for just 1 second.
@Just_a_jinx_lol10 ай бұрын
Yeah but 1% lows usually only happen for second at a time throughout the benchmark. And they happen multiple times I think @@PenCil5899
@matsui9010 ай бұрын
It means ignoring the lowest 1% or 0.1% drops (which would be perceived as a stutter or possibly barely noticed) what was the lowest frame rate observed while playing. This would typically occur in a heavy scene e.g. with many characters on screen or multiple effects taking place at once. You could call this an “organic” low frame rate, while 1% and 0.1% lows are more likely loading or shader issues with the game.

Don't you think it would worth putting the 5500G 5500GT and 5600GT and their main parameters on a ppt slide? It is impossible to follow these names and their parameters. The video is informative, for sure, but I bet no one remembers the parameters. Such a data overload can't be processed without visualization. Unless you are Sheldon.

AM4 is great. I built my PC 2 years ago in the cheapest possible way. Started with a Marketplace X470 motherboard for 80$ and some new DDR4 ram with a marketplace Ryzen 3600X Previously I was on a 6th Gen Intel and Nvidia1070 Later upgraded to a 200$ RX 5700XT and then a new on special Ryzen 5800X (I regret not splurging on the 5800X3D that way my platform would have been maxed out on CPU which would be good for years to come... then again I am never on the highest end GPU so... not the end of the world. Next upgrade should be an RX 7800 XT or maybe an Nvidia 4070... all depending on price, when they end up at their lowest prices.

Could you review 5600GT? I don't need a beast of a computer (I've got a console for games), but I would like to upgrade my processor without breaking a bank (currently owning 2200g), so I'd like to see if 5600GT is worth over regular 5600G

Somehow it is. It's simply rebranded 5600G with more quality chip used this time from factory

Did you end up picking an upgrade? Want to upgrade my 2200g that is in an InWin case (150w psu, only cpu fan for cooling, ended up delidding the 2200g with liquid metal under the IHS to drop 10c, ha). So looking at the 4600g/5500gt/5600g. Maybe the 5600gt but I know it uses a few extra watts and a little hotter than the 5600g. 4600g would be the cheapest and prob lower TDP than the others.

@@FireMrshlBill I didn’t actually, I’ve bought an Xbox 1 month prior to my comment so I figured I won’t need to upgrade my pc now, since I won’t be using it for gaming. I do believe you won’t see a major difference between G and GT model, so just go with 5600G and you’ll be fine
