Imagine in 10 years the 2080ti could be in this same recycle spot
@MrDox90
@MrDox90 5 жыл бұрын
I don't think so. Because 4k or 8k is not at all NEEDED standard 1080p is way more than enough for most people that makes 4k capable cards relevant for many years to come. In 10 years maybe the low end 1070 or 2060 will be, but the high end ones, not so much. I think even in 10 years a 2080ti will run most games at low maybe even medium at 1080p, and will not be regarded as junk. Heck it's almost 4 years since the 10xx series launched, and I would say 1080ti is still king if you disregard RTX (which is pointless in my opinion anyway). We are currently reaching a top end limit on how much power a gpu can have. Unless we come to a big break trough in new technologies and thus make regular gpus totally obsolete, then no. I think it will be priced at least around 100ish dollars in ten years.

Sammy So basically I got really lucky. Before I started working there, I went to the plant and asked if I could buy any old computers, and as I was about to buy the computer parts, the owner introduced himself and I got his business card and we exchanged info, and he said there may be an opening in the future. About a month later I get contacted, after 2 weeks of temp work, I got hired! I love it, and definitely recommend working at a recycling plant if you are interested in tech. I remember that design like the back of my hand. I won a GTX 260 at a local LAN party when I was really just starting to get into PC gaming. That card kept me running for a very, very long time, and even still lives on in my parents' rig, handling The Sims like an absolute champ. Also like the lack of the sticker as well. I had the BFG card, so the sticker wasn't the worst. It was still nice to remove and have a clean reference design.

The air in the cans are treated so that there is no moisture in the gas that comes out. If you used an air compressor on a computer, the moisture in the air in combination with the pressure would most likely kill the computer.

I really enjoy your videos on old hardware. It brings back memories, but it also points to just how far hardware has come. This once flagship GPU is not even as good as a R5 5600H in Fortnite and uses a lot more power too. My first gaming pc had a pair of 8800GT in SLI. That build has had me hooked on PC hardware since. Today, I am enjoying my RTX 4080 with my I7-2600k

9:01 My EVGA GTX 280 buzzed like that! It was a bit lower pitched and usually happened with the framerate went below 10 or above 100. I've mentioned this on another site, and someone else responded with the same issue (BFG model). It's probably an issue with the particular generation. I was glad when it broke some other way (cracked solder joints, maybe), and EVGA gave me a 285.

I have a 290 (4gb), a 290x (8gb) and have tested them both with (a pair of) r9 290x(4gb)'s, tested all cards singularly and in crossfire (mixing ram sizes and core counts every way possible). When all clocked to 1000mhz, seriously 290 vs 390, 290x vs 390x, 4GBvs 8GB there's next to no difference (okay a 390x might be on average 5% faster but thats like 70fps vs 73fps, who cares). All can do 1080pUltra/1440pHigh today still, they're faster and cheaper than the 780/780ti's they competed with, best bargains ever. I also have a gtx1060 asus dual 6gb and have built a gtx1070SLI (founders) rig for a client so no I'm not biased.

I bought one of these used about 3 years ago for $15 New Zealand and was even surprised back then how well it ran the likes of Battlefield 3 and others at 1080p. This video makes me regret selling the system that I made up with the GPU in it not long after purchase. Was a gret little performer. Oh by the way, I have sent you a Twitter DM, so please check them :) Cheers.

The whining noise you heard was coil whine I believe, my corsair CX750M previous power supply did the same with my GPU under load, its normal. Radeon's R9 290 and X did it too

Yes, Outlast is being capped to 60 fps. You can see that the cpu and gpu usage are quite low. And yeah, that horrible coil whine usually means your card is about to die.

I had a pair of these in SLI for years and they were awesome cards. They drew about 500 Watts at load but I didn't care. They were awesome.

I've also heard people's GPUs screaming on Crysis. Strangely enough, my GTX 260 (i don't have money to upgrade, okay) also behaves odd when i'm playing on extremely high fps. Whenever i reach close to 70 fps on some games, it starts to crash, stutter and drop frames. That's why i cap my FPS to 50 whenever i play games. Looks like these old junks weren't meant for playing games at more than 30-40 fps.

At that time(2008), I had just upgrading from a Ati Radeon HD 3850 to a x1950 Pro. A year and a half later, I would get the 6870. Back then GPUs were released much faster than today. Ironic when you consider that GDDR5 has been around for 10 years now.

I've got two of these cards sitting on a shelf. I got them when I bought a Dell XPS 730x in 2013 but I never used them opting for the GTX 580 that I had at the time for the HDMI capability. After watching this I might find a use for them, I have a Dell Precision T7500 I could stick them in (even though it's currently using a GTX 770).

I got an original Logitech G15 Gaming keyboard for $6 Canadian at a thrift store. Only thing wrong with it is the LCD backlight no longer works.(Or it might not be receiving enough power) but for $6 I am not complaining. Checked eBay and the first original G15 I saw was going for over $90.

Something isn't quite right in the BO1 benchmark. The gpu usage was between 40% and 60% but it was still dropping into the 40s for some reason.

Still have a xfx 285 lying around in its original box, never saw much use and it got replaced by a pov gtx 570tgt beast edition. And even that one has been replaced now by a zotac gtx 1060.

I literally used my Xfx Geforce 285 close to a decade before retiring it for a GTX 1080. It was such a great card. One of the last games I remember playing on it was Killing Floor 2. I had to force dx10 to get it to work.

9:01 - ah, the sound of coil whine - proof that a card is being pushed to its limits, that or the inductors on the card were not the best. Either that or the fan bearings are completely knacked and they are literally scraping their way to try and function.
