1050ti 4GB or 1060 6GB is the minimum of what i would recommend. 3GB is already barely enough in most games. In the near future it will be min spec. With 6 GB you turn the 1060 in a futureproof 1080p card.

8gb ram is enough to cache that entire game. I doubt the hdd is the problem. However i think there is something wrong with the windows install there were s bunch of stuttering even after he upgraded the graphics to a gpu thats 10x better.
@gnrtradepro
@gnrtradepro 6 жыл бұрын
E Vers Thats not how it works. The game will have a set limit to ram usage, it will not cache the entire game. He could creat a ramdisk and run the whole game from there, but thats beside the point. Issues with both windows and the poor performance from sims 2 indicate poor page file function and read/write problems with the hdd.

That cpu isn’t bad should not have caused stuttering. However 1 gb vram isn’t very good When a game goes past that it uses system ram to page textures and the ddr3 1333 mhz is not going to perform as well as the stuff he has in the Ryzen. I know he thonks highly of that gpu but i bet replace it with a 2gb gtx 1050 and those stutters go away. Other thing to check is the crap running in the background my fathers hp is similar and I was surprised to see some factory bloat ware using up 1/2 the resources.

I kinda doubt the Bottleneck is the CPU, maybe it's the HDD (looked like a 2,5"?) or the Ram not running in dual channel (keep in mind the GPU might have to use RAM as it has only 1GB Vram). A i5 3330 should be bottlenecked by a 7770 in most cases.

For everyone who thinks "hey, let's buy a hp pc"... Ich you find a g good offer for one of those please be aware that these pre-built hp's which come with a sandy bridge (second Generation) CPU won't support every Gpu you will put in. For example the gtx 700 series (750ti, 780, 960...) and up won't work. But if they come with an ivy bridge CPU (third generation) they should run fine with almost every GPU. Mainly they have to have a newer bios version but you can't update OEM's Mainboards that great.

Slap a 120gb ssd in and change the location of videos documents and alter the registry so the default instal path is on the larger drive and move the page file over as well. With a 1050ti 4gb and some pmw case fans she will have a great entertainment pc and can use it as her entertainment hub. It's not just the price of a pc it's the parts inside. CeX even do 10600 ram in 8gb sticks ddr3 for £15 to beef it up to 16gb. That will prob last her another 10yrs at least.

I bought a refurbished optiplex with the same processor and ram. I threw a 3gb gtx1060 and a power supply, and it games quite well.

I wanted to know everything about the PC all the parts the hard drive or motherboard and I wanted to see the comparison of how it did with the farming Sim at the beginning but you didn't do that and I was also curious what your sister thought.

Same, also it would be great to find of what model HP it is so we could have a look at the specs for items like the chipset, any limitations on CPU upgrades, the max memory it can support.

I think the main problem at the time was the single channel memory; 8GB in dual channel (2x 4GB) would have worked better. For some reason, HP like using single channel memory in a lot of their computers.

This PC is an HP 3500 MT and it can make the best used budget gaming PC. I have one with i5 3470, 8 gb ddr3 1600mz and gtx 1050ti. It plays all games at 1080p, Far Cry 5 plays at 1080p high settings with vsync on, 40-60 fps!

I second the motion. You really should've benchmarked the same games with the same settings to show the difference after the upgrade. Wasn't much of an upgrade anyway. As many have have also suggested, an SSD upgrade would have made a big difference. And a 3770 CPU?

I had a similar pc back in 2012 but I had a i3-2120 and 6gb of ram. In 2017 I got bored and I was messing with it and somehow ended up putting a GTX980Ti and a RM850x psu inside it. Which was fun trying to put the cables into it though the old disk tray area as I took it out

A 750Ti or better would be the perfect GPU for this computer, as not only will it outperform the HD7770, it also uses much less power and the 2GB of VRAM will allow it to play most modern games. But as others said, the HDD might be the issue with it, it might be too slow for the games.

This pc could easily take up to a 1070 to achieve excellent performance. to keep power a bit low I'd likely go with a 1050ti. I was honestly thinking it would be something ancient like a core 2 duo. I was shocked on the ram and the actual cpu installed. For those who do not know. the sims 2 only uses a single cpu core! Although with that cpu, even being the lowest one of that lineup should still rock the sims 2. What I think the issue is, is that I believe the sims 2 also loves accessing the hdd, so maybe an hdd would speed it up.

Stumbling over your words a bit and getting some things said wrong is not the norm for you but just noticed it in this video. I am glad that the "internal video card" worked out well to make your sister's pc more acceptable to game on. Also the i5 cpus (Sandy Bridge) still working for me and others today for sure. A great cpu and so thankful I bought it back then.

SSD most important, for daily use of course. That gpu wasn't enough, an i5 can feed something better. The minimum should have been something closer to an r7 260x

What was that thing Intel had with the Ivybridge cpus? It would link the igpu and gpu together? I tried Google but couldn't get results. It was the few things alongside the ssd cache that made me pick a i5 3570k upon release. Also what's happened to the bundle deals? I remember getting a cpu, mobo and ram from aria for around £300 this was very shortly after ivy release. It was good ram corsair vengence @1600 or 1866 and a good gigabyte mobo.
