*I can't wait until 10 years and on this channel:* 10 years ago, NVIDIA released the "GTX 1070, and it only had 8GB of GDDR5 VRAM, a measly 2GHz boost clock, and DX12, not up to the standards of DX16 of today's standards. We picked it up for $12.

True, Hillary has actually ordered drone strikes on civilians. Trump just wants to know what's inside area 51 and who really shot Kennedy and make that wall. And by the way, building the wall is actually good for everyone. There's a LOT of human trafficking from mexico to the US, several people die every day either by robbery from those seeking to exploit those who want to travel or they die during the travel itself. There's also a lot of drug trafficking. A wall that's big enough will make it harder to get in and out and that forces people to apply for work visa or greencard? is that it? Illegal immigrants is a problem even if they are from canada, mexico or sweeden. He won't nuke anyone, tho he might destabilize trade agreements to some extent it will most likely be fine. The world isn't over. And no, i'm not a trump supporter, nor do i support hillary. Bernie was the best choice for the wellfare of your people but even he would face challenges with economy, trump might be able to fix that, but probably not.

Eight years ago, we had Nehalem with parts like the i7-920 and i7-965. These parts are still very usable with a modern GPU. The 9800 is basically a turd now

honestly gpus have had a pretty good slow down this decade. We haven't had a huge generational leap since 8800gtx in november 2006 which nearly doubled the performance (if not more) of its previous gen 7000 series. Before that it was the mighty radeon 9700 pro released in 2002 which was probably the hugest generational leap in regards to performance of all time. Anymore we have been seeing maybe 30-35% bumps at best per generation, and the gaps between generation have been getting wider. Look at how long the gtx 10 series has been latest gem? Some of the blame is how long the 28nm node latest (2011-2016), although nvidias lack of competition and amd being burned hard by the bitcoining mining craze in the mid 2010s didn't help either. (basically hd 7900 and r9 280+ series of amd gpus were bought in masses by bitcoin miners in around 2015 to mine, but when ASICs came out the miners sold their cards in masses on ebay for lower than the suggested retail price which made it hard for amd to sell new product and made them a huge loss)

I had this card a few years back. When I was building a budget gaming machine, I had Windows XP 32 bit Service Pack 2. That same machine also had a core 2 duo (I cannot remember which model it was), 4 gigs of memory, a sound blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer Fata1ity Pro, and a 600 watt power supply. I had the 9800 GTX+ card, and it was really good for the games I was using it, for. I remember playing Serious Sam HD on medium settings, and although it was struggling just a tad bit at some areas, it ran really well. The PC was really awesome. It's just too bad that I lost the damn thing, in a fire. I am getting ready to build a classic PC Gaming Machine with the same OS, but with an AMD FX 4300 CPU, an AMD Radeon HD 5870, 4 gigs of RAM, and a Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium card.

but dx12 and vulcan makes the difference... It all depends on the games optimization between these two. the 1060 6gb is only slightly better in performance than the 3gb version, and in my opinion is not worth the price. Keep in mind that the 480 gets quite hot.

The 9800 GTX+, which was an overclocked 9800 GTX... which was an overclocked 8800 GTS 512mb. Of course after it was the 9800GTX+, it was rebadged AGAIN, to GTS 250. Been working professionally in the IT industry for 15+ years, and an enthusiast for more than 20. Out of all my graphics cards (scores) over the years, this one works in less motherboards than some of my earliest ISA/EISA slot based cards. But that may be isolated to the PNY version.

My 9800gtx+ was also different, it had only 1 6pin connector instead of 2 in yours. I loved this card, however, i had to change for GTA V which needed 1gb of memory instead of my 512mb so it stuttered all the time and i couldn't play dx11 games, but that was a card that i really enjoyed, as well as my core 2 quad q9400 with it's p5q pro turbo motherboard :)

A terrific example of one of the biggest, baddest & loudest 9000 series single GPU cards with an awesome paint job from back in the day. Surprising you could even find one that hadn't already lived fast and died young with major artifacting occuring even at stock speeds, especially at that price. Yet now, even a soberly suited, grown up, economical and quiet 750 Ti can easily beat it at 1080p while also running on DX11.

I would be curious about how this card performs against the 9800gx2 (which I always called GTX2 despite not being named like that). I always thought that dual gpu single card was a beast even when compared to later GT series. But as you well mentioned in your video, while some same time period cards from ATI got the jump to DX11, Nvidia never did that to their 9xxx series. I felt so disapointed back in the day when I bought this card along with a i7 970 only to witness the immediate launch of the 2xx gt series. But it wasn't all that bad as I could run most of the games at decent framerates albeit in DX10.

I used to have 2 of these in SLI. Lasted for a couple of years then I upgraded, I wish I had kept them at least just to display them on a shelf. My cards had flames on them.

The 9xxx Series is a good example of big green renaming CCPUs with slightly improving them. The G92(which powers 9800 GTX and in a Hardware Revision the GTX+) is originating from the Geforce 8800 GS / GT / GTS 512 which replaced the G80 (the original DX10 Chip found in the 8800 GTX and GTS 320 and 640 MB Versions. nVidia rebranded the G92 in b (which was the 55nm Shrink of the original G92) Revision afterwards as GTS 150. The Chip even survived into the GTX 200 Series GT 230 v2, GTS 240 (in both 65 and 55nm Revision), GTS 250 . Only When Fermi the GF100 Lineup came arround the G92 was burried for good...

What a beast..i still have a Palit 9600gt 512mb oced at 725Mhz and I just can't stand the thought of replacing it, it plays whatever games from 2014 and before i throw at it with relative ease (except for dx11 titles ofc).

Dude your videos are great but when showing dota2 try to download some tournament games and show some teamfights they can easily achived by "watch" feature at the home screen so that could be better anyways good job

Missing one important game from testing this card, and it was out around the time of this card, Crysis. I used to play original Crysis on a plain 9800 gtx and it did well.

My last PC was a Core 2 Quad (OC, LC), 2x 9800GTX+ in SLI (OC), 4GB RAM. I could play DayZ and Arma III at 1080-60fps. I got my cards for $20 each. In total PC cost me about $150 in recycled parts. Not bad!

I technically have part of a 9800GTX in my current rig. The heatsink mounting holes are the perfect distance apart to fit my RX 480, so after a bit of dremeling, I've now got a better cooled reference RX 480 :D

I had this gpu on release to play crysis. Such a good card, It managed high settings dx9 really well. Sadly, I had to replace it for a 6870 a couple of years later because I got the 512MB version. 1GB made a huge difference for some games. This gpu was a BEAST for pushing high resolution textures and 16x AF. It also became really cheap for what it was when the gts 250 was released, and up to about 2013 I still saw new ones really cheap online. If I may digress, I think that this GPU design would be good even today if manufactured in 10nm and clocked higher.

i had a PALIT brand one of these, for a long time, got an identical one for the brother about 3 months later, mine was bugged from the start yet took 3 years for the problem to surface (demanding games) The brothers flat was hot all year round and combined with the bad temp/fan curve built in the solder joints under the GPU chip cracked, i managed to cook some life back into the card at 200c for 8minutes, So me being clever and planning ahead I SLI the 2 together, however both needed to be underclocked by about 15% due to their poor state... then discovered my motherboard was a high end PCI-E v1 m2nSLI-Deluxe.... that explained why i wasnt getting the performance i was expecting with 1 card, but its still a good card, brother had a better experience as he had a lower end but more modern PCI-E v2 Asus m3n78 motherboard....

I actually ran my 9800GT right up until the very end of 2014 when I upgraded to a GTX 970. The thing was a monster for what I did (like skyrim, fallout nv/3, l4d2) I have nothing but good things to say about it. I still got the card on my shelf, however it's now half dead. It works and detects/displays but the screen has some huge artifacts now. Rip my first GPU.

i have to correct you, the GTX+ is NOT a sucsessor to the GX2. the GX2 is a dual gpu version of the 8800/9800 GT. the GTX+ is a factory overclocked, refresh of the 8800/9800 GTX. with all respect for your work i liie the video, i just want to correct it.
@yarazar7 жыл бұрын
That is incorrect , the 9800 isnt the only card which has a plus model. I have a GTX 260 which is also a plus model. Instead of the standard GTX 260 which had 192 cuda cores, the plus model had an additional thread of 24 cores, giving the plus card a total of 216 cuda cores.

I have as a secondary build a OC-ed E2100 paired with the HD5450 1 gb DDR3 64 bit and it can barely play GTA IV at 20 fps. Something like the 9800 GTX would be grateful.

Can you make, Dota 2, CSGO, Rocket League and Overwatch standard game tests in all your reviews? Most people will probably only get budget hardware to play mainstream esports games.

I think i've seen that Sticker on another, smaller, grafics carf were the ring thing with the exaust on it was hollowed up to house the cooling fan, so you had the fan inbetween the round grafic.... i hope i'm not just imagining this.

I still have my 8800GT in one of my PC parts graveyard drawers. I always wanted to upgrade to a 9800GTX+ but I waited until GTS 250 to get something new, the price was much better for similar results waiting another year or so. The performance wasn't drastically better but my 8800GT has the worst fan and heatsink, it's so loud. I changed to a Galax GTS 250 that had a 100mm fan and a proper modern heat sink and shroud, it was such a difference. My 8800GT seriously has like a 45mm fan that runs like a jet engine. I suffered with that card for a couple years xD

This was one of the best bang for buck cards for close to half a decade along with all the other G92 based cards, good luck finding a 9800 GX2 at least one from the states as supplies dried up and the eBay sellers have gotten greedy. I really do miss this era of pc master race and was the end of the line when it came to actually needing some skill to do pc building unlike it is now. G92 with good cooling and high quality pcb can be a overclocking monster with 2ghz+ on the shaders.

Omg! This is kinda funny. Watching one of your videos yesterday I was wondering if someday you would upload a video showing one of the card that I owned back in the day. And today you put that card, the one that I sticked to it more time. Let me tell you a sad story, I bought first her sister, the 9800 gtx, then bought this one and did SLI them. It was a waste of money, little to no improvement. So I sold the 9800 gtx and kept this girl for years. XFX was my brand back then, they went to make only amd cards. Weird thing is that the 9800 gtx had a "glitch" after doing SLI, no matter where you put that card (motherboard), it only will show you 8x pci-e bus speed, the 16x speed was no more. Well, enough sharing my memories, don't want to bore you guys, but damn!, just looking at it brings so many memories, to the heart man.. to the heart.

I love this card. It came out when I was in collage and I've got allot of nostalgia over the 9 series of NVidia cards. XFX were the best, such a shame they don't make NVidia cards anymore.

For something similar but with support for modern titles I would recommend a 550 Ti if you don't mind having to play on low to medium settings. If you want something with DX12 and some more power go with a 650 Ti(Boost edition is essentially a slightly overclocked version of the 650 Ti that improves minimum framerates by what, 2-4 FPS?)
@RESOPO17 жыл бұрын
I mightbe mistaken here, bute DOTA2 ist probably not the best test for any GPU, is it? During your test you were clearly CPU bound (GPU 55%, CPU 98% load). For CPUs it is probably a valid test, but I feel anything with a monitor adapter seems to be able to run DOTA2. Other than that, great channel :) Seems like you will beat 100k subs soon, keep up the good work!
