DIY Sugar and Glue Crystals│no borax│no salt

This is a simple and cheap tutorial on how to make crystals or geodes with what you probably have at home already. We're using sugar and glue, so no borax or epsom salts etc. are needed. You also don't have to wait for them to grow - you can shape them however you like!
I made so many already and I think I will make even more, because we need more crystals in life!! The possibilities are endless, you can make whatever combinations you like - make rainbow geodes or other color gradients.

This is a really cool temporary idea, but wouldn't the sugar go bad after a while, and what about attracting bugs? Is that a problem?

I have wondered about that too, but I've had the crystals for weeks and no bugs were attracted :) I wouldn't put them in direct sunlight to be sure, but so far I've had no problems ☺️

These are great! I was wondering if salt crystals can be used in place of the sugar? Salt crystals are larger and would give a good affect if they it would work!

I think larger pieces of salt could work - I've seen someone who glued them on with nail polish instead of glue. Small salt crystals with glue don't work, I tried it. Hope that helps :)

You can kinda clump them together, but if you want to make a big crystal it is easier to stick them onto something :)

I tested it - yes you can! The acrylic paint also works as a glue, so no glue needs to be added!

If the crystals are displayed in a dry place with not too much direct sunlight, the crystals will stay like this. They don't last forever, but for a few weeks.

Yes, white glue dries clear so it will be exactly the same

Actually, geodes can have different colors on the outside, so work with the colors you have! And you can mix them together as well :)

I usually let it dry overnight to be sure. But if you are in a rush, just make sure not to use too much liquid and glue. Then it should dry quicker. You can carefully touch the crystals if you want to know when they are dry.

I couldn’t make this one but what I did is I make a pipe cleaner into a circle weird shape and then I put glue all over and dipped it in sugar and then pained it;) I havnt done it yet but if it’s good I will give it to my mum for Mother’s Day
