What a beautiful location. Live the waterfall. The furnace is incredible. And the best part is NO VANDALISM that I saw. I could sit there all day long. Of course, knowing me, I'd be trying to get footage from behind the waterfall because that's just the way I am. LOL

What a beautiful forest! I wondered what the furnace was for until you said it was for ironworking. ⚒️

There were thousands of these silent sentinels throughout the US along with lime kilns in the 1700 & 1800s. Built and taught by people who came to the US; iron forging, importance of lime for farming. Only few remain today untouched and intact like this one. :-(

The oxford furnace in nj is another thing of history and beauty all intact,easy to get to,take 31 to the light in town and make that left onto main Street and go til you see church on left and the furnace is on the church property to the right,there's a chain link fence around it but you can film til your hearts content,it's publicly accessible 🙂
