RIP Nick. Never the same without the 'original four' but quite an achievement to present the show for so many years. Spent many a hour watching the recordings at the Paris studio in the 80s.

Never the same but i question that it was worse for it. I obviously completely agree on the rest.

Absolutely stunning, how mentally fit he was to that very age. Being that on a personal level is impressive enough. Being that to the level you can host a show litke this, is crazy. And he really was doing it, it wasn't some sort of embarrassing pity thing.

Right at the end, he missed about the "next time" segment of his final speech...seems almost poetic :( .

None of the above. Giles would be my choice but he's too good as a panellist.

With the demise of Kenneth Williams the program went into a slow decline.....RIP Mr Williams the greatest JAM player of all time.

They expected that. To their surprise, it actually picked up popularity. Both according to Nicholas Parsons. But all good old times pink goggles aside, i never was a big fan. He was a bit of a one trick pony and his fake (or real) shouty outrages became very predictable and thus boring. And beyond that he was never really funny in his actual talks (or tried to be). He was also QUITE hard to understand. I found Derek Nimmo a much greater loss for the show from a pure performance/comedy view. I heard that Clement Freud was quite critical about the move to more comedy and sillyness. But he sure as hell was able to hold his own there nonetheless. As was Nimmo. K.W felt rather lost in that.

...am I the only one who absolutely hated Parsons' chairmanship? He was fucking awful at his job and a disgusting creep to women and I'm glad he won't be hosting it again.
