They deserve to be in the American Rock and Roll hall of fame. They are unbelivable musicians. I was and am and always will be a great fan of their solo work, their work with The Guess Who and BTO straight outta Texas where we KNOW great music. Keep on Rocking, Mr. Cummings and Mr. Bachman.

Great tribute! I flew from Houston to Buffalo NY, then rented a car and drove to see them at Budweiser Gardens in London, Ontario Canada on July 20th, 2022! It was fantastic seeing these legends sing and play live. I was almost in tears hearing all their great songs that brought back so many memories and feelings. I listened to them on my little Radio Shack am radio that was attached to my handlebars when I was a kid throwing papers in Houston for years starting in 1967 (I was 11), then had my first dance with a girl at Sheppard AFB in Wichita Falls Texas to "Takin care of Business" by BTO in 1974.

Talented guys. Well-spoken and humble. I'm not sure that rock will ever again see the caliber of songwriting ability and musicianship that existed during the 60's and 70's. It was a wonderful era that I'm extremely happy to have grown-up in.

The US Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is overrated. It's for everything except for Rock. Some of the last inductees get inducted singing covers. And last, if you are not American or at best from UK your chances drop by 50%.

There is no way, Burton was stepping in because he thought Randy was getting choked up. Burton, was just being Burton. He has been pretty nasty to Randy in the past, and this just follows the pattern with his character. Burton wasn't even looking at Randy when he totally butt in. Burton told everyone, that once Randy left The Guess Who, he would fail miserablly. Randy made him eat those words. Then Burton started calling BTO, Bachman-Turner Overweight. Which was not only childish but over the line. I guess Burton can now eat all of his words because not only was BTO super successful, it now looks like Burton is the one who ate more than his share. Be careful of what you say Burton, your words will come back and haunt you.

Because they're better. Don't get me wrong, I like Neil Young, but the Guess Who? Way superior and more successful. The album America Woman outsold the Beatles and Rolling Stones albums when it was released. Neil never did that. That's the stats.

@andywatt2376 4 жыл бұрын
@@thelong-hairedleapinggnome7939 more successful? Better? Not even in the same league as Neil Young and Bob Dylan. Neil is hugely influential with countless classic albums and classic bands. He could headline arenas and festivals in 1972 and still does to this day. I dont doubt The Guess Who have their moments but not icons like Neil.

I agree these guys deserve to be in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame here in the US as well. They definitely fit the description of what is required to be considered. On a more sour note, I think Burton should have allowed Randy to finish his part. Burton just hijacked the rest of Randy's time. You can see, there is a point where Randy is just sort of looking down, and if you read the expression on his face, to me it says, "you just couldn't allow me to have my moment could you?" These guys have had a lot of bad blood between each other when Randy left The Guess Who. Randy was sick a lot with gall bladder issues, which really took a toll on him, plus he didn't do drugs or drink, and the others did, so he was slowly just being pushed out because Burton considered him a narc and just not cool. It's pretty sad that a person can be labeled the way Randy was, just because he didn't want to drink and do drugs. I seen an interview where Randy said he would be coughing up blood prior to a show and still found a way to go out and perform. Gall bladder pain is one of the worst pains a person can go through. At any rate, Burton said some pretty nasty things about Randy, and BTO as well. I suspect some of that came from him just not liking Randy because he wasn't into the drugs and alcohol, but then the later nasty remarks, I suspect came out of jealousy because Randy did prove to his nay sayers that he didn't need Burton to be successful. Most of his nasty remarks were words he eventually had to eat, as Randy was more successful in BTO than ever! Burton then started publicly calling them Bachman-Turner Overweight, which I think was a bit childish, stupid, and over the line. Besides, he has to be eating those words now as well. Based on his looks in this video, it appears he has been eating more than just his words. I am really sorry to be a killjoy, but I felt Burton should have allowed Randy to have his moment, and a lot of people do not know this part of their story, so it is important to know because it then puts what Burton did here, into perspective. Randy wasn't ever the type to go slinging dirt, so consequently, no one ever knew. Burton just got away with being a jerk towards Randy, and it went unchecked over the years. Honestly, I accidentally found most of their history out because I accidentally stumbled on an interview Randy was doing, that was on KZbin, and someone asked him about it. Even though he was asked about it, Randy didn't say anything purposely hateful, like was done to him. Burton was a great artist, that much is for sure. No one can deny that. Unfortunately the same cannot be said about his character. They have both found ways to say kind words about each other much later on, but this video just proves it really was just an act on Burton's part. This induction is a moment you only get once in your life. Randy didn't butt in on Burton's speech, Burton should have offered Randy the same courtesy to Randy. But in true form he found a way to put the attention on himself. What a shame.
@BobSoltis1
@BobSoltis1 Жыл бұрын
You heard Randy's side of the story. Forget Cummings - you should hear what the REST of the band says about Randy. They all hated him. Remember - Cummings was just one member of the band that booted Randy. Randy is lying about going on stage coughing up blood. BTW - the story changes from kidney stones to gall stones and neither has the "coughing up blood" symptom. LOL! Randy lies all the time about nonsensical BS and the people in the know just shake their heads at his fantasies. He even had the audacity to lie about a young Robert Zimmerman coming and staying at his house in Winnipeg before he was famous as Bob Dylan!!!!. LOL!!!! Even his son just shook his head on stage at that whopper!!! Randy still has a hard time working with anyone. Just look at how much his own brother hated him after BTO and how he trashed Fred Turner. Randy trashed Cummings as much as Cummings trashed him. Randy even wrote a song called "Hey You" to show his hatred to Cummings. Randy still makes up crap about Cummings that he talks about in his concerts and minimizes Cumming's contributions. Furthermore - Bachman still has trouble with his band that he tours with. He dumped one member for a while because the woman he was cheating on his wife with didn't like him. His long time wife finally divorced Bachman for his openly screwing with this much, much younger woman. He finally reconciled with his own son who hated him for years but people in the know think it has more to do with the financial needs of his son who he abandoned than any sort of real love. In other words - Bachman is no better or worse than Cummings as far as holding grudges and publicly trashing people he doesn't like. What sets them apart is that Randy is a bold faced liar and makes up stories that are so ridiculous it's unbelievable that anyone actually listens to them.

That could be, but I watched an interview with Randy Bachman, and ironically, the American Woman they are referring to in the song is the Statue of Liberty, which technically was a gift from France. The song is just a war protest song, which many groups had done back then, that are in the hall now. So if the RHOF is keeping them out because of that, they should really rethink that. The story that Randy cites is they had green cards so they could come into the states and play/work. The problem was that, because they had green cards they could be drafted. Someone told them they should not go into the states with green cards until the war was over otherwise they could be drafted. They canceled their gigs went back to Canada and eventually that song was born.
