One of the most readily identifiable voices of any contemporary female vocalist, Randy Crawford's firstbecame noticed with her fiery vocal on "Street Life," a 1979 hit song with the Crusaders that was included on the soundtrack for Burt Reynolds' film Sharky's Machine. Crawford was lead vocalist in a group that included bassist Bootsy Collins before touring as George Benson's opening act in 1972. . Crawford recorded "Don't Get Caught in Love's Triangle," a song produced by Johnny Bristol, She soon moved to Warner Bros., and after "Street Life," recorded and toured Europe with the Crusaders and has had many hits including You might need somebody, Secret combination, Rainy night in Georgia, Last night at dancelands, One day i' ll fly away,

Now this really is special - singing live (very rare for TOTP) and pitch-perfect (no enhancements or autotune then). Just a beautiful lady, a lovely song and a mic (the pianist is pretty good too!). Sometimes it's the simple things that bring a tear to the eye ... astounding.

I was just thinking along the same lines when I scrolled down to your comment. I don't usually watch Top of the Pop videos because their versions of the songs are usually so chopped up and short. However, this is the best, smoothest, and most beautiful version of this song I think I've ever heard. I almost choked up. Have a wonderful day, wherever you are.

One of the most beautiful and unique voices I've ever heard...Vocally, she's in the same category as a rare few, including, Barbra Streisand, Anne Murray, Karen Carpenter, Diana Ross and Celine Dion...That said, I think she has the most beautiful and pure singing voice I've ever heard...Also, she has the face of an Angel...I love how Randy smiles, throughout each and every line of each and every song, during her live performances...If I could pair her with any male vocalist in the world, to do a duet with, my first choice would be...George Michael.

Clear and picture perfect. That voice! I've been a fan for years and she has few peers. Those that are in the same category, I would say, would be Celine, Alison Krauss probably sings as clearly, then of course, there's Barbara, Whitney when she was at her best. You just melt when she sings. of course, Karen Carpenter could also do that to you. Amazing! Sadly, few today have that kind of talent. Adele is good, but she's no Randy.
