It is now almost a quarter of a century ago when my mother was suddenly dying one day in the hospital. There was nothing more that could be done for her but to be with her. Late that evening I left the hospital after she had peacefully fallen asleep forever. I got into the car to drive home. I started the engine and turned on the radio. It was just playing Randy Crawford's One Day I'll Fly a Way in the first strains. A beautiful and comforting song at the same time that I will never forget.

I agree with Simon Crosbie that this is one of theee greatests songs ever written and performed. As a songwriter myself, the lyrics and melody are in perfect “harmony” with eachother and Ms Crawford sings it with so much “soul”. Also, the arrangement with the strings are just beautiful! It is not only about the music why i prefer the music from these times it is also the 70's sets, the choreography and the beauty of it all. It all seems like a completely different world, the perfect world in which to escape to. I wish i could of experienced that place!

For some reason I started crying while watching this, it's so beautiful and I can just see kindness in Randy Crawford's eyes and smile. This video didn't need anything more than her sitting on the stage and the image of a seagull flying. Her voice is incredible and she is beautiful.
