There was a black dude that did pretty well at Jimi covers too, around the west coast. I saw him in LV and San Francisco a couple times. But that was around 2000. He might not be around anymore.
@gregoriopalofuego98088 ай бұрын
David~ That was Charlie Miranda, a great friend of mine. He gave it his all- I mean everything. We took X at the Hard Rock in 1997, and as we walked though the casino, Charlie dressed up like Jimi, he said; "This is tragically hip."
@davidwavidshmavider8 ай бұрын
@@gregoriopalofuego9808 Crazy. That’s him I believe. That name sounds really familiar. Yeah he definitely didn’t hold back, every single time, it’s like he was trying to impress the king or something, and each performance was important to him.
@gregoriopalofuego98088 ай бұрын
@@davidwavidshmavider David~ Let me clarify. We were peaking on X at the Hard Rock casino in Las Vegas on Paradise Blvd. If you remember, as you entered the casino was a huge glass display case containing memorabilia of Jimi Hendrix, including a psychedelic outfit he had worn and two guitars he had played. Well, Charlie and I just thought that was the grooviest thing- to see a guitar that was played by Jimi- and the moment was magnified by the MDMA, which was pure and *beautiful* . Charlie and his band would play at a variety of clubs in Las Vegas and my wife and I were just dazzled by his performances. We became really good friends and when my wife and I moved to Montclair in the Oakland hills in 1998, Charlie, his girlfriend and his band all stayed at our house for a week. Let me say- that was one awesome, non-stop party. Charlie would continue playing in San Francisco and Las Vegas, but I haven't seen him in 20 years. Hard to believe it was that long ago, but when Charlie was *on* let me say he was just brilliant- and he put on an *experience* and anyone who was there, would remember they were *there* .

Anyone who is a fan of Jimi has their favorite jams. Cuts usually deep album ones. Some i forget i gotta hear the names n then i know like Night something i cant remember but a classic i think Nightbird. Forgive me. 52 n mind slips lol. BUT THIS is my all-time favorite Jimi cut ever. So so hard to duplicate from studio especially without the keyboard organ in it that adds so much. Anyone who loves this jam knows the story behind the phasing or fading work they did in the studio to get that underwater effect. Jimi wanted u to get the feeling of parachuting out a plane n soaring n he accomplished that in studio. With headphones from one ear to the next. Randy does the best job ive ever heard covering this jam. Maybe not his strongest song to u but to me its maybe not his best but to me it is AND its my favorite AND it shows u just where he was goin next. Jimi was obviously ahead of all others kinda like Holly was in terms of production n such before he died as well although Jimi imho didn't die accidentally something is way off with his death. But anyways this shows Jimi conquered "Pop" as well as blues folk rock soul n such. This song in its simplest form especially the outtro the incredible outtro is straight up pop chords just in crazy Jimi complicated terms but if u jut listen to the bass amazing bass for last 2 mins of outtro those chords r pop chords. Billboard Top 10 stuff. Amazing i love it bc it shows Jimi ability to musically and lyrically write a pop gem. Breakin with the 3 minute formula BUT STILL classic!! Unbelievable by Randy the best I've ever heard covering Jimi.
