I love the fact that he channels Hendrix's style and then is inventive with it. This is a version of Little Wing that Hendrix might have played himself.

Randy is such a great player. He captures the Hendrix guitar and vocal sound so well but adds something of himself and something new every time. His tone on this recording was beautiful and he is such a master musician it looks effortless and fun for him. Awesome. Thank you Randy.

Randy and his wife are so awsome. I watched him at a small studio in seatac wa. He saw me watching him and gave me a five minute lesson while on break, he showed up with a tiny little amp and blew everyone away. Randy is the real deal baby!

It takes a phenomenal talent to be able to play like that. He uses the structure of Jimi's music to inspire his own enormous creativity and musical brilliance, unique in its own right. A wonderful achievement!

Comprei o Lp, The Smash Hits, por tê-lo ouvido na véspera com The experience, após um LSD e mudou todos meus conceitos musicais, Jimmy Hendrix e The expirience eram Surreais, inegualáveis. FANTÁSTICOS!!!

Randy is such a wonderful person and player. What a great gift, this man, who is a great musician on his own, gives all his talent and knowledge to keep Jimi's music alive.

That's how Jimi did it, that's how Randy does it now... this is amazing, I knew he was really good, but I didn't know he was this good... damn.

I wonder if Randy was ever given access to the original tapes from Olympic Studios and the little wing rough cuts off Axis Bold As Love? I know that Randy has very powerful music connections. But I also heard Jimi lost one the master tapes reels of side one of Axis and Eddie Kramer said Jimi left them at a London Night club. But Jimi later denied those claims by Kramer and said they were stolen from his London flat but Kramer also said Jimi had change his story several times.

Saw Randy with Mitch Mitchell and Noel Redding at the Whisky a Go Go in I think '81 or 2 with a girl i was dating who got me into the green room up stairs. this was long before they remodeled the place....oh the history in that room. Ended up with a cassette recording from the mixer that night and a roll of 35mm stills I took. I know there are the purists who would say what ever they would but of all the Hendrix covers or I should say tribute bands, Randy Hanson by far exceeds the requirements to be able to just squint a little and see Jimi

One of Jimi's best pieces of music, played beautifully by Randy - just the right mix of first tenderness and empathy, lateron power and bite, coming together in a truly iconic piece of music.
@keiranbradley322212 жыл бұрын
listen i know randy is good but what uv got to realize is that randy has had to do this for a few decades at least to get this close, JIMI done it in the space of 4 years when u think about the music that literally poured out of him it's truly mind blowing but i do like what randy does, how could u not, u can tell Jimi's music touched him deeply just like us all, peace, fly on randy !

I remember we got ripped off the night Deep Purple supposed to play at Long Beach Arena back in 1978. I think Richie Blackmore was no show, When Deep Purple played but none of the actual members were playing. We started throwing things at them we were about to attack the stage. They only played three songs and left. Then the lights turned down again and now evryone thinks Jimi Hendrix came back to life. But then Randy Hansen by the third song everyone calmed down he saved the night. Thanks Randy, I know you remember that.

Randy has a style that's a good bit less chaotic than Jimi's, much more thought out in a jazzy style. I think that's what Jimi was leaning toward right before he died.

Rich , I saw all 3 shows there "Doolies" in 75 ,,,Our jaws all hit the floor from the moment he rose from the Purple Fog on stage with the Blown-Out Marshall Stack visual ... I reviewed your KZbin pages and we are Brothers from a different Mother for sure ...

I think Randy might actually “channel” Jimi sometimes. I can’t say for sure tho. I had the privilege to see Randy couple of years ago. Saw him at this killer place called WizDome in L.A. The ceiling a domed projection screen. Announcer came out to start the show and said “Let’s see if we can call on the energy that is Jimi Hendrix to be present tonight.!?” Everyone began chanting Jimi-Jimi-JIMI with an increasing intensity. There was a picture of Jimi on the screen being zoomed in and out as we all chanted. It was was sorta ritualistic, very psychedelic.

Really love his version. He never does any SRVisms. At least not the signature licks that made Stevie's version his own. Randy gives you an idea of what Hendrix could've been doing, if he'd lived into the birth of all the different modulated effects that the 70s brought. Just having an amp that you don't have to turn up to ten and delay. It's why there were so many songs he didn't do live. Because you couldn't recreate the effects in a live setting(at least not to his satisfaction).

Best guy to make that jimi hendrix feel without just copying the piece, he improvises just like jimi. Apparantly he also wrote a song with michael jackson and made music for apocalypse now.
