Randy Johnson’s 4 Years Of Dominance

After pitching for the Expos, Mariners, and Astros, Randy Johnson joined the Diamondbacks in 1999 and went on to have perhaps the greatest 4 year stretch any pitcher's had. He struckout 300 batters in each season with an era below 2.5. Good enough to win the Cy Young in 4 straight seasons while starting the all-star game in 2 of those years and winning World Series MVP in 2001 and striking a bird with a fastball.

Great video! I'm shocked you don't get more views. One other insane fact about Randy Johnson's dominance: he was making hitters look silly while TIPPING HIS PITCHES! He clenched his glove when setting to throw his fastball and kept his glove open for sliders. Despite batters knowing what pitch he was throwing, they still couldn't hit off of him.

Love Randy Johnson and videos about him! Great to see the Big Unit get the Sportsesque treatment! I feel nowadays people often forget about Randy's 1999-2002 season just because Pedro Martinez had his ungodly 1999-2000 season, but I think I'll take Randy during these years.

No one is forgetting about Randy Johnson. Yeah what Pedro did in that time frame gets a lot of attention, rightfully so, but Randy is probably the 2nd most talked about pitcher from that period. It's hard to forget/ignore 4 straight CYA.

Its crazy when your that big, your body can handle a lil more than the rest. I always wondered how he stayed healthy while always being so skinny. He was a legend in every sense of the word

Johnson would also pitch one of the best age 40 seasons in 2004 (throwing a perfect game and leading the league in quality starts) and could have won another Cy Young.
