Two of my favorite performers. I love Randy but Linda takes my breath away still to this day at 73 years old. There’s a lot of crap on KZbin but the ability to go back and watch her sing Long , Long Time. Priceless.

Yesterday I was at work listening to KPIG (the GREATEST radio station in the world), just like I do every Saturday. KPIG is from the Santa Cruz area and streams on the Internet. All of a sudden I hear this song and it sounds like The Eagles but was not familiar with the song. When I looked on the computer where it shows what is playing, I saw it was this song, Rider In The Rain, by Randy Newman. I am a big Randy Newman fan so this morning I did some digging and this song is on a 1977 Randy Newman album called Little Criminals. A few more clicks showed me the liner notes from the album, remember liner notes. Guess what! It was The Eagles backing him. Not bad backup singers!! When we mix Randy Newman with The Eagles the result is spectacular. Of course, we can't go wrong with Randy Newman, Linda Ronstadt, and Ry Cooder. I am 76 and still get excited when I learn things about some of the greatest music ever made.

Aside from the pain and discomfort she experiences from her condition-supranuclear palsy-I feel so sad that she cannot sing with her family and friends. Think she only sang to audiences in packed arenas because she had to, but a venue like this and singing with Randy and Ryan was Heaven to her.

Wow…I admit that Randy Newman is a terrific songwriter, but his getting to sit on the piano bench next to and sing with Linda Ronstadt? Some guys have all the luck! 😃. Gosh, Dan and Nicholas, makes me so happy to see that you just revisited this video. It really has been "The Year of Linda Ronstadt!" The documentary released in September was thrilling to watch and to hear her in a theater was bliss; the Kennedy Center Honors event a week ago was incredibly emotional. The performance by this trio is just irresistible. I hope they were having half as much fun as it looked like they were!
