Congratulations, Randy. I'm 38 and I've literally watched you my entire life on KARE 11. I'm so glad that you get to retire with your health and your loved ones surrounding you as you transition into the post working part of your life! You have earned it, between the amazing persona you displayed both on TV and on 93x. I'll tell you, there were many days that tuning into 93x was really only to listen to you and the guys banter about sports. Best of luck to you and your beautiful family! I have lived in the Twin Cities my entire life, I am 57, and KARE 11 has always been my station for news. Congratulations on retirement. Love all the years you were at Kare 11. You absolutely made that station and growing up watching you Even as a kid you are by far one of the best broadcasters I've ever had the opportunity to watch. I love your prep sports extra and even living here in Florida I continued to watch it. Randy’s been on the air there as long as I’ve been alive. I’ll be 41 in August. I grew up with him on TV and for many years listening to 93X. I’ve been in SE MN for about 9 years now so I haven’t seen or heard as much from him but this popped up in my recommended on KZbin. Enjoy your time doing whatever you want now Randy!

The younger audience probably does not either recall or care that more than thirty years ago; Randy and Jeff Passolt were the ringleaders in prompting station management to not renew Twin Cities sports broadcasting icon Tom Ryther's contract as KARE sports director [Tom was in his early 50s at the time]. Furthermore, it was the hostile work environment fostered by Shaver and Passolt that led to Ryther's age discrimination lawsuit against the station [which Ryther won to the tune of $1.3 million dollars]. It's all a matter of record - including the court appeals that dragged the case on for more than five years. Pleasant dreams in your dodder age, sir.
