This question was written in the form of a similar NBME question... I will make a video on how to learn it once, then reinforce...so you don't have to 're-learn'...

Excellent your videos, thanks for that, in this particular video there is an easy way.. if 1000 people beginning the study and 500 finished, the probability is 50% of survival

I think there is a much easier way. Num of people who survived after 10 year is 500 person probability of surviving 10 years= Number of people 10 year survived/ Total number of patients at the beginning(year 0)= 500/1000= 50 %, which almost the same result ! Am I getting it wrong ?!

Hi Dr. Neil, I had a question, I did a similar NBME question to this, however they simply had the answer as .9 rather than choice F (both were options on the exam) then they said the question was asking for that specific interval. But I see it as both are correct. Do you know why that is?
@bronxbomma71810 ай бұрын
This is just straight up mathematics.
@jared3948 ай бұрын
you could also confirm this by taking 500 / 1000 and comparing the math

Hey Dr. Neil, thank you for the work and explanation ❤ So, if they ask what's the probability of a pt surviving 6 years, it would be .8x.812x.85, right? Same with pt surviving 4 years, .8x.812? Awesome content, thanks so much 😊

I could have written the question better, but, yes, you have the right idea.. It's relatively simple once you have seen the concept before. Now, HOPEFULLY, they will use this on real exam...
