I really appreciate you making this video, I bought one of these machines from the original owner a couple months ago, I got it services but had no idea how to thread or operate it correctly. Thank you

I bought mine from a 102 year old seamstress in an electric table where the machine goes up and down with a flip of a switch I even have the check she wrote to purchase it. It is really special to me but is frozen up at the moment. I have 5 Industrial machines and 2 of them are even having issues.

Hey Randy, have you done a video on your backstory yet? How did you get into this work? Do you know how to sew? Do you have someone you are training to pass all of this knowledge on to? etc.
@randyyoursewingmachineman9954 Жыл бұрын
No video on my backstory. I do drop snippets of info from time to time when I decide it’s appropriate to make a point. I tried on multiple occasions lately to “sponsor” and place a couple folks on a guaranteed path of success. Let’s just say, it didn’t work out. There are a couple success stories about a couple fine fellows who used to work with me who went on to be successful on their own. That was an organic process that worked out well. That was also thirty years ago. The business hasn’t changed all that much. The prospective work force has. My business model is solely my wife and me. She’s brilliant and a solid asset, and has been for 44 years. She’s an accomplished seamstress and designer. She’s 80 times smarter than me and keeps me focused on what’s important, helping people. We make that our first concern, and everything else works out well. No accidents or luck, just God’s purpose for us. I have always had a twenty year plan. I still have it today. Perpetual optimism combined with God’s grace is my business model.👍😎

I have a that machine but a different model number and the bobbin winds on a magnetic disk. Mine is froze up meaning the hand wheel won’t turn. should I run it like you said where smoke may come out. it has been sitting for several months in my shop. Thanks for any info.
@randyyoursewingmachineman9954Ай бұрын
@@TrimzzDotNet if the hand wheel is locked up, it usually means that the machine is “thread locked”. Thread locked is when thread is stuck in the hook assembly and it’s locked up. Oil the hook assembly and coax the hand wheel to turn gently. Don’t over stress the hook assembly or you’ll pop it out of the position bracket. Jiggle the hand wheel gently back and forth until it frees up.

@ Thanks So much for the info. another question. I have been using monofilament thread for years in my Juki DDL-555 Industrial and just got a singer 20u43 zig zag. Do you have any advice for using monofilament on it. The machine doesn’t take a newly wound bobbin well until a 1/4 of it is used. It sews for about a minute then starts rattling underneath. I cannot figure out what is causing that. Sews good once the bobbin is down to about 3/4 full. I Love monofilament and really do not want to sew without it. My Juki does great with it.
@randyyoursewingmachineman9954Ай бұрын
@@TrimzzDotNet the 20-U should be fine if you cut out a thin piece of fabric that’s the size of the bobbin. Put that in your bobbin case behind the bobbin. That should eliminate the rattle. Put a drop of oil on the end of the post that you snap your bobbin case onto. Just a drop will help.
@TrimzzDotNetАй бұрын
@@randyyoursewingmachineman9954 I will definitely try that. the rattling actually makes the stitches mess up then I take the bobbin out and re thread it and cross my fingers and of course all this happens when I am sewing Live on a platform. I dread changing my bobbin because it happens every time at the beginning. I am going to try adjusting my bobbin winder too for my bobbin to be 3/4 of the way full that may fix the whole issue. I used to Live in Dallas 20 years ago and bought several of my industrial machines there. You can find anything there. I am in Alabama repair places are few and far between so I have researched as I go to fix my own machines. Learning how to Time is a Must. Thanks so much for your help

Agree on most of it - although the price for the bobbin case seems a bit exaggerated - that's the run of the mill Pfaff 6mm case as used by Pfaff for dozens of machines over almost 50 years. That's 15 Euros from most sewing shops. As Pfaff has keept them compatible, the newer 9mm ones will also work. If you can find the 297-1 -> that one adds the "elastic" stitches like tripple zigzag.
@randyyoursewingmachineman9954 Жыл бұрын
I’m pretty sure I said that’s the price of a genuine, original, made in Germany, Pfaff bobbin case. That’s certainly what I meant, if I wasn’t clear. There are cheap knockoffs of just about every sewing machine part you can look for. Lesser quality equals lesser price. I prefer the genuine original parts.
@christiankolinski1563 Жыл бұрын
@@randyyoursewingmachineman9954 The US distributor must really have a nice margin. Even the "creative" embroidery bobbin case for extra thick thread -- genuine Pfaff -- is just 35Eur here in Germany. And yes, 15Eur are genuine Pfaff cases from reputable vendors.
