You where right on point on everything.. Wow. When I got mine... It is exactly how you described it... This is my first Pioneer equipment ever. Always have been a Rane guy and A turntable guy.. Wow. Never thought I would be giving props to a Pioneer controller.. But times have changed

the pitch faders are in the exact right place if you come from a turntable set up.I have Rane 12s and i have turntables.Had this come out sooner i might well have got this and the Pitch faders for me would not be an issue as i often had my Technics in battle mode.This was built for djs that dont like controllers.
@DJTeddyJetts2 жыл бұрын
For real though. The Rane One curiously got the pitch faders wrong. They were trying to market to Pioneer DJ customers and Pioneer marketed to all Turntable DJs plus controller DJs and they won. Somebody at rane needs to be fired for not putting the performance pads in the middle and the pitch faders on the top. I bought my rane one a week before the Rev7 was announced and while I love the One. Im kinda kicking myself 7 or 8 months in... i do think the Rane will last longer overall, but the Rev7 seems far more advanced for having been released only a year apart.

I LOVE my Rev7! Cleveland is absolutely right that it was made with vinyl DJs in mind. As a vinyl DJ and turntablist , I was never interested in a controller. But then the Rev 7 came along! It’s built in a “battle style” with the pitch faders on top so DJs like myself not only love this format but are used to it. I’ve only DJed “battle style” for 25+ years so I was right at home with the Rev7. And if you’re a scratch DJ like myself, this Rev 7 is the closest thing to a turntable that I’ve ever used when it come to the “feel” of scratching and being able to execute the scratches. It’s a game changer. Plus I love how much easier my set up is now.

Dope Review As Always My Brother And Just Want To Say Your Mic Man In The Video Was Doing His Thang Sounds Good!💯
@djmattames Жыл бұрын
I'm in the portion of this video (~6min in) where you're talking about the pitch faders being on top. Is there any such thing as external pitch faders you can plug in somewhere (a secondary USB-B port, perhaps) and it work with the controller? That would be a cool addition to the accessory market. Someone can use the Rev7, and then purchase an external fader to set to the side and use vertically, similar to Apple's Magic Trackpad you can buy and have down on the table top if your laptop is mounted higher, but it this case I'm picturing an external fader being wired in to either the controller or the laptop. Could be cool, and maybe even external channels where you could essentially add a 3rd or 4th channel to a 2-channel controller (there are external mixers, yes, but I’m thinking ones that are market to look like an extension of the controller and also work with the controller’s jog wheels). If this doesn't exist, steal my idea, CT, and give me 10% of each sale! lol

Great Review! I had my Rev-7 for about a week now and I agree with what you're saying. The performance pad placement is sooooo much better than under the jogs. I was using a Rane One for over a year for my portable set up. I use a Rane 72 and 12s for my home set up. There are some things I do miss from my Rane One. For, cutting/beat juggling, I like the feel of the Rane One better, but I do have aftermarket slip mats which probably adds to the feel. The stock Rev-7 is too loose. I like your fix for this and hopefully it will have a similar feel once i try it out. I took the Rev 7 out for a gig and I miss not being able to tuck the cords under the controller. I bought some furniture risers, and they actually work well, but the hassle for a portable set up is a pain. I ordered a flight case which will eliminate the cord issues. The flight case will also eliminate the other issue i have... which is dealing with that stupid power brick every time i break down and set up again. It will live in the flight case and I won't deal with it anymore. The last thing i want to mention is that it has some nice built in Fx. A lot of peeps give a lot of shade to the Serato Fx, but I never had a problem with them and they always worked well on my Rane One. One weird thing I did notice, is that during beat juggle practice, there was some drift of the markers on the Rev-7 that I did not get on the Rane One. Maybe its just my unit and hopefully a software update will correct that. But, it really only occurs with longer juggling routines/practice and not noticeable under normal conditions.
@eddyc75002 жыл бұрын
i heard u have to set this up in serato anti drift off . for longer session u put it on . thx for ur comment. i just went into the store .. the rane one felt so much better and solid. but i dont wanna miss all the cool features from rane .. do u think they could come with a next version ? that would be sick . 4 channels, better upfaders, hardware fx , that would be crazy ^^so would u say it was worth to upgrade from rane to rev ? didnt u also think the rane feels better to scratch ? thx.

I been researching the rev 7 since it's release. You seem to have all of the other equipment that I have also researched. I'm I wrong the the rev 7 compared to your other equipment scratch (whether mp3/on board scratch efx) sound muddy? No matter the skill level of the dj I've seen online, the rane or even 1000 srt digital scratch sounds better?
@chrisshinakadjredikulus789810 ай бұрын

@@dzgroove9 I never got around to getting aftermarket slip mats for the Rev-7... I think I was just being lazy. As a fellow tablist, I like having the pitch faders at the top. Even when I'm doing long mixes, it doesn't bother me. My only concern about the Rev7 is the sound when scratching...it often sounds digital and kinda hard on the ears (at least from the videos I've seen). I'm heavy into cutting on 1200s in analog format, which sounds frickin' awesome. I've also scratched in digital mode using Traktor, but it still sounds great. When I hear people cut with Serato though, it just doesn't sound right. Maybe it sounds better with recordbox, but I have no idea...still in research mode. In any case, thanks for the review.

I frequently use 2 mics and Aux input... the mics are implemented well enough... I'd really love the ability to CUE the aux input on a 2ch device....making it basically a 2+1 ch mixer... I may have to look into this unit further, and consider using the channel inputs as "aux" in some cases. I REALLY LIKE the jog screens and how they worked that in, as well as hardware effects built into the mixer.... the Rev7 really is a 2ch battle mixer, with the decks built in... using external inputs and still having effects is a big deal.... I didn't look into the Rane One very much just because the mixer section is so weak. As long as the jogs are robust enough, this seems like a great option for a lot of people, and maybe soon for me as well...

I know how effective XLR is in an all analogue rig to cancel out certain noise...but does that apply to a digital system like the REV7 ? I'm curious.

It’s only digital in the box. It always has to be converted to analog on output.

I’ve read that the Rev 7 has stems but then I found out that it’s through Serato software, whereas the Rane 4 and Flx 10 have the buttons on the actual controller which I like I know the stems still go through the software.

Use the instant scratch buttons for stems. Problem solved.

Hey Cleveland. I def like what Pionneer did but I just prefer Rane built quality. Wouldn’t u just want to wait to see what Rane comes back with? I never nudged my turntables. I always used the side to slow it down and to nudge forward I used my fingers on the middle of the record. Hence why my record labels are always worn out in the middle lol. I just love using my 12’s but if I was to get a controller it would prob be the Rane if they come out with something matching the Pioneer if not the Rev 7. It is.

Build quality on the rane one is not without its criticisms.

Hi DJ, I've been looking for the Rev 7 but it's been out of stock for months. I really want it but it's soooo hard to find. I'm in the market for a new controller and I was going to just purchase the SRT 1000. What's your thoughts.

Can you cue the Aux on the headphone? I don't see any switch to do it. How do you listen to the Aux input, prior to mixing it in the master out?
