I have an identical one of my own. You are correct, thay are an outstanding firearm. I bought mine to be a stable mate for my Colt King Cobra (First eddition). It's accurate fun to shoot and less expensive than the 357 mag while still giving me the same feel as the larger Colt...

What a cool revolver. I completely agree with you about Colt. I own a .22 Peacemaker and a Service Model Ace. They are part of Colt history

@@thetexasgunvault I have several different makes of revolvers. My absolute favorite is my S&W model 686-4. I bought it around 1990. My brother is an excellent gunsmith and did an outstanding trigger job on it! I just feel like I should have another Colt! :-)

The new King Cobra is merely an imitation of the Diamondbacks.

I had a four inch .38 Special Diamondback years ago. I also had a Python and a. Detective Special. The Diamondback was my favorite. The D-frame fit my hand best. I regret letting the Diamondback go. I like the new King Cobra and Viper as they’re modernized Ds in .357 Mag.

I bought a 4” blue diamondback pretty much exactly a year ago paid $2,200 for it and I realize that is crazy but it gets worse . Took it out to shoot and noticed it was shaving lead. I’ve been around firearms my entire life and work on revolvers occasionally so I popped side plate off cleaned and checked if out of time. I was very confused when I found 2 chambers were out of time not much but enough to shave lead . Normally I would have taken to a good friend of mine and had him open up the forcing cone a bit but this being so expensive I decided to send to custom shop the one on tv . On phone they said oh yeah around $200-$400 and she’ll be perfect. Well shipping from ffl in California to them waiting about a month and they called saying it’s already how would you like to pay your $845 bill lol . Are you ready for my debit card info is all I replied. As long as it’s fixed I’m happy. Anyway my advice is check the timing cylinder gap and if they’ll let you dry fire a revolver with caps at least do it no matter how perfect the gun looks . These are things that can be very easily checked with a bore rod , feeler gauges and snap caps .

Wow! I am sorry that happened to you! I hope it runs great now!
@andrewpinheiro72022 ай бұрын
@ it does . You know what is crazy it was exactly 1 year ago today I bought it at the Lodi gun show in California.
@sombra61532 ай бұрын
Outch! I put rubber grips on a Detective Special and found the timing was knocked off. The problem was the pin on the main spring was somewhat loose. The wood grips provided a backstop and the pin didn’t move, The rubber grips, however, allied the pin to drift. I got rid of it.

The Colt latch may look better But the Smith is stronger, it locks in two places. Some old Smith may lock in three places, like the X frame does
@thetexasgunvault2 ай бұрын
That is a good point.

Love that pistol do you know if they make the 22mag in this same pistol?😊
@JWB86772 ай бұрын
It's very nice. They didn't chamber it in 22 magnum, and this model hasn't been produced at all since the 1980's. The correlative model in Colt's current product line (as of 2024) is the Colt King Cobra Target 22LR, which is similar in appearance and size to the old Diamondback, reviewed here. I believe another company has a stronger claim to the name "diamondback" for use in branding for a current-production revolver.

I do not think they ever made that.

They are the most beautiful gun but the triggers are nothing like the smith and Wesson 17 which is as sweet as it gets from the factory
