Get your hands on the binary from Franklin Armory for this, along with an old GSG 110 round drum for the 10/22. I have this setup - fill it full of Walmart $5/box standard velocity CCI and it's unbelievably fun! Super quiet and cycles perfectly. I can hit the 100 yard gong at my place all day long with just a red dot on top.

Bought one of these recently after a frustrating multi year experiment of trying to shoot Glocks. Couldn’t shoot them worth a damn and started to question myself on whether or not I was a decent marksman. Range I was at one day had a Shadow 2 on sale for a really good price, so I said what the hell and bought it. Loaded up all three mags that came with the Shadow 2, and proceeded to put all 51 rounds in about an inch group at 15 meters! It was reassuring to know that I could still shoot, and that Glocks just suck!

I love my 10/22 Takedown. Ruger’s BX trigger for the 10/22 is a great upgrade. I cannot understand why Ruger doesn’t change the bolt release dongle - it is the opposite of ergonomic. However, Volquartsen makes a replacement that works the way it should from the factory. You do need a bit of mechanical ability to replace that part. Bouncing back and forth between subsonic and supersonic is going to wreck havoc on accuracy.
@thetexasgunvaultКүн бұрын
I agree on all points.

I thought about one of these, but so far, I have not found an integrally suppressed barrel that is as quiet as a normal can. I decided to go with a Ruger Charger 8" barrel model, and swapped the steel barrel for an aluminum one, and added a Leupold 1-4 scope. It has a pistol brace on it, but I actually plan to do a Form1 and SBR it, so I can use a proper collapsable stock. I have three .22LR cans, and by far, my Dead Air Mask is the quietest, followed by my Outback II. I also have an A22 and it is a turd when it comes to hush factor. I run the Charger with the Mask, and it makes for a very quiet (back yard quiet) and lightweight system. It is only getting 1.5" groups at 15 yards, but that was with testing just 2 ammo types. The one in your video is cool looking, but my concern is that it would be like my A22 suppressor performance, and I would not be satisfied with it. Thanks for the video of this.

I love my 10/22. I had one bought in the 1960s when I was a wee lad. I dry fired it a lot and then on one outing it started misfiring. The culprit was a broken firing pin that had cracked down the middle and the gunsmith told me it was due to dry firing. I don’t dry fire any of my 22s and have never had a misfire caused by the firearm since (several duds with deep rim depressions though). I guess when shooting ammo bought in tubs you can expect a dud here or there.
@thetexasgunvaultКүн бұрын
Yeah, I try to remind people about that. It is easily overlooked.

Do suppressor really affect the sonic boom with the mini mag? Surprised on the "quiet" not cycling the rifle. You would think that they would have accommodated subsonic ammo. What did Ruger say? Don't want one right now....not worth the extra $200....besides if it will not shoot subsonic ammo then what is the use. Just sayin"
@westtexas30412 күн бұрын
Quiet does not have enough velocity to cycle the bolt .I can’t hear it fire on a suppressed bolt action.
@loulunetta4252 күн бұрын
@westtexas3041 Ruger has some work to do! Suppressors are useless unless the gun can cycle subsonic rounds. Just sayin"
@thetexasgunvaultКүн бұрын
Well, the Quiet ammo is even slower than subsonic, so I will forgive it for not cycling. 22 in general is a very finicky round.
@FineApeКүн бұрын
@loulunetta425 CCI makes a few different flavors of the Quiets. The round nose and the segmenting hollow point go between 650 to 750fps and are made for manual actions. CCI makes a Quiet Auto that goes 950fps and is designed to cycle semi-autos. From person experience I can say the lower power Quiets will not reliably cycle in semi-autos. At best it will have enough power to eject the spent case but not pick up the next round.

@@thetexasgunvaultI'd suggest the CCI subsonic 40gr HP. It's what we've been using for pest control around the garden and it's run reliably out of our suppressed 10-22s.

The 10/22 is so much fun. I bought the cheapest model available $200 at Bass Pro. Blue plastic stock, no sights and no barrel band. It did have a rail on top so it got a red dot, ambi mag release and a Ruger BX trigger. Fantastic little rifle.

@ - It was a burglary while we were of of town 5 1/2 years ago. They were in and out in 8 minutes, tore down a bolted closet door, tore two safes out of the wall, and got 15 handguns. I watched it all on my cellphone… and watched the police as they showed up an hour after the fact. Long guns and, of course, EDC pistols were elsewhere thankfully. I think the burglars were tipped off by the moving company since I was installing the safes during our move-in. They knew where to look and what to do. One of them was arrested a year later and ID’d by our security cam footage. He went away for 10 months. One of the handguns was recovered just last year when someone tried to pawn it. It took five months to go through the return process and actually get the gun back!
