If nothing else this is a perfect example of the difference between a mechanic and a fitter Nicely Done Richard.

What is more irritating is the mother hens dive bombing me whilst working and shitting all over the place. idyllic and ideal are some way different 🤡

Nice job on the servo! I’ve never been overly impressed with any version of Shultz, even if I clean it all thoroughly first I always find in a year or 2 the rust is speeding underneath it again. I like to clean and derust , then a coat of epoxy primer, then a good quality stone chip. Then more for aesthetics than anything I spray body colour. That makes the rust easier to see if it does reappear, but so far on the Stag- 4 years now- still no sign.

Must admit that I sort of agree. However in this case all surfaces were 100% rust free and also painted. The shultz went over the top and gets into the seams. It stays soft for a decade or so. BUT an annual check would be a must

A lathe is a useful thing to have in a restoration workshop.

Imagine my dismay when I found out that a local and suitable old school lathe was scrapped because it wasn't computerised 😲😪

love the explanation of dismantling the servo and not knowing you hourly rate would it be cheaper just to say FERK it and replace the servo ?

Refurbished servo is over £360 here. for a couple of hours work I am some way south of that. The kit to rebuild the servo yourself is iro £240 👍
