Lol send the apprentice to get a tin of Tartan paint…. 😊 It’s surprising how few E-types and MGBs were actually ordered in red in the 60s, yet it became the go-to colour for resprays and restorations. It obviously suited Alfa Spyders better “back in the day”…..

It's the joy of old age Hair grows where you don't want it to and doesn't where you want it to, things get stiff that never used to and things that used to get stiff don't, youth is wasted on the young. Thoroughly enjoying these video's as it takes me back in to to when I had a MGB or two. Yeah love a shagged bush, but there is nothing like Rubber Bush :) I wager OLD fuel is nothing compared to your bottom after a night on the beer followed by a Vin Da LOO or Donner Kebab. On the fan I am surprised you didn't work harder to get to the bush, that is not what I have heard about you !!

One of the first things I do when I fire up KZbin is to see if Richard has a new video , I will also have another reason to look forward to Fridays now not just 'beer o'clock' ! - Thanks to you I have had the confidence to tackle a rear cross member on a 1986 Classic - I watched many of your cross member removals and your 'tips' and comments have been invaluable, its out and just fettling and protecting the chassis before putting a cross member back in - as you would say ' a light afternoons work, couple of hours max!' 🤣 Is it possible to have too many projects? - I guess so but not in my (or apparently your) world ! It's great to see a 'real' channel and not another one which is ' take a crashed car from copart and fix it' - keep up the excellent work, Richard!

I also look forward to Richard’s videos every Friday too. In fact, I think Richard is to blame! I took delivery of a rusting failed MOT soft dash 300tdi Vogue manual this afternoon. Biblical fail sheet. It’s a conversion too from the VIN. And lo and behold it’s had a clock swap. And been stuck on a very similar mileage for a least 4 years. Still, at least it’s mostly intact.

Loved my 78 MGB and only sold it when moving to US. It never let me down in 60,000 miles and sold it for more than I paid for it. Never liked the rubber bumpers though. Great to drive and I loved the electric overdrive. Perfect car for me.

I have a 1969 B. It starts every time without fail. All the miles I drive are free. How did I do this? Converted to electric, of course. The car will easily outlast me now. (oh - it helps to rip out all the lucas electrics in the process.)

It's because MGB's are sluts they two time ever owner 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Having been an owner of many MGB's I do not understand why you ignore me I am shouting as loud as I can at the screen !!! IF you don't already have one get a Ultrasonic cleaner for the carbs, works wonders with the correct solution, plus you can do other stuff while it works. Couldn't help but notice you are a member of the Black Fingernail society (Ala Sid James)

I have no idea on double timing marks, never seen that, my ‘72 MGB has only one set. Odd pulley maybe, B-series went in so many variants, started life on tractors! 3 springs on throttle is standard, one for each carb butterfly and one on the actual linkage. Manifolds seem to vary with number of ports, later models used one for servo and one for PCV, some are just blank flats without machined threads and other models have them plugged. Front suspension- bushes are easy to fit, so much easier than any on the Stag! But you will be very lucky to get the swivels apart undamaged, they usually need lots of heat and abuse and then have to replace the pin and bushes which have to be reamed in situ. My advice, see if you can pump grease in and it comes out the dust shields, then see if there is any noticeable pin movement when clamped in the vice. If no, chuck it back in with new bushes. If yes, probably easier to buy rebuilt swivels, not that expensive. Finally check the lever arm dampers thoroughly for leaks. Even rebuilt ones like to leak after standing unused for a few years- ask me how I know…

Richard - you mentioned the Fitting of the Inner and Outer Sill then pop Rivet together, then weld with the rivets holding the two pieces in place. Is this the same technique you use when fitting the RRC sills? I've got one coming up and any tips like that are welcome. Looking good.

indeed it is, 4 door or 2 door. can be screws or rivets. just need to hold that alignment until it can be welded together

Large repairs like this put a lot of people off but relay they are much easier than you think, it's the small repair patches in awkward places that are a real pain and finding all those spot welds takes time as well some of them are nearly impossible to see. The project is coming along nicely Richard.😊
