Hi Ray, as you mentioned, the window weather strip will only stop so much water from going down in to the door well, both ends which do not actually touch the glass will always have a gap, hence the drain apertures at the bottom of the door. I think you have done the best you can, cleaning the seals will help a little but rubber will perish over time. Great idea to take the passenger mechanism out and service it before it gets to the point where it breaks. Also, nice to get surprised with a mid week video, keep up the good work 🙂

Hi Ray, interesting as always. Can I ask a cheeky question on another subject. I remember you doing a video on retractable side steps and want to do mine. How easy is it to remove steps from mechanism or better to refurb underneath whilst on car? Cars a 2016 but paint coming off from underneath runners. P.s I’ll might even pluck up courage to have a look at my window mechanism too🫣.

The actual steps are bolted on with 4 hex bolts 2 at each side and easy to come off,(if they are not rusted on). I have a video planned for the better weather to remove the steps and re refurbish them with a hard wearing paint and lubricate the hinges / brackets hope that helps R:)

Thanks for reply. Had a go and got all Allen screws out bar one which were all far too tight. Unfortunately, I think one has been rounded so unable to remove without a lot of work. Gave them a rub down and cleaned with white spirit and a lick of grey anthracite metal paint. Looks good too me 😉👍. Look forward to your refurb video. Great stuff, thanks.

So the word “wee” in Scotland must mean “small”. In Armerica it means something very different. So it does add some comedy to your videos if I’m a bit slow to do the translation. I enjoy your videos with or without the added comedy.

Any ideas on how to trace the entry source of water that is pooling inside between the bottom of the door seal, and body? I can't identify if coming in from the window or top of door. Thanks

could be the door seal or a blocked drain hole see 8:14 on the video

Nice Vid, does the mirror need to come off to get at the trim? Also Does anyone know the part number? I was gonna change mine out for new as the fornt looks as if its starting to bow a little, Im guesing there is metal in there somewhere (all the older L320 and l322 used to rust on the insides so Im guessing there is a similar design.
