Excellent vid and instruction fella.. Its mad that you did this video 5 years ago and as far as I can tell, there isn't any others as informative than yours. I have just purchased some Disco 5 leather seats.. They are lovely but... I am going to have to start delving into the wirings shortly. I am hoping that it is similar to the seats you have. I know they ( well certainly the drivers seat) has the memory console. So that's a starting point. lol Keep up the great work fella.

Well done Mark.. When I fitted mine (Ford Galaxy Ghia) to a Transit Mk6 and Mk7, No one had done it and put it on youtube.. You have explained it fare better than I ever could or did.. We all know that that took Hours and Hours to do, and by the power of editing you got it down to under 20 minutes.. Well done.. I had to make mine swivel as well..? Most people will never attempt with as it involves lots and lots of wires.. But it is so satisfying when it all works.. Great video mate...

Your right bud, I don't think many people will attempt this, especially 9 👎people will not be going for this option matey 🤔😂, oh well, their input has bumped the video up on the algorithm 😁👍👍👍

Looks like they would make excellent swivel seats too with that recliner option. I need a new passenger seat in my Sprinter, as it currently has a 1 and a half seat that is fixed and a bit too upright to travel more than about half an hour. Its also too close to the dash, so you get kneecapped if you need to open the glovebox. You've given me an idea on how to alter the seat base to accommodate a different seat. Love the Lego Dave and his van! Cheers.

@@Iveavan We had a rear car seat mounted on a custom box in the back of the van when we had the trials bikes - worked pretty well, lots of storage for boots and other gear under it. I've got the rear seats from a Honda Jazz, was going to do the dinette with them, but might just use some of the caravan cushions I've got, can be dinette, side sofa or bed then. Still working it all out at the mo.

I’m in the process of sorting out 2 Range Rover Vogue seats so I know how time consuming it was mine never had the unit under the seats so I didn’t have to cut that out but the guy who took them out of the car was not too clever, the hardest part for me is finding the corresponding wires to the switches on the seat and for the life of be I can not make out how the plastic panel is fitted but there is wires coming out from the side of the seat and see if I can sort them out , I’ve not found the wires to raise and lower the head rest yet but I’m not in any rush I’m waiting for the relays to be delivered. Your video as. Been a great help Mark I will let you know how I get on with them

@@steveflanagan46 depends how good are you are at fabrication bud, nothing is impossible 🤔, with only a twin core cable feeding power to the seats the electric part shouldn't be an issue, just the fabrication side of it mate on the seat frame, but once you did one, the other side should be easier enough, I'd say its possibly to do it, ( but bare in mind , they are wide seats! Thank you matey 😊👍, I consulted with Ash Pollard regarding the wall and his seats, and his are set further back by about 6 inches by the looks of it, with mine you can still recline back, but obviously not all the way. I kinda need the wall because it will be used "all year round", in places like Scotland, Yorkshire, and the lakes, so it needed to be installed for when the climate is less inviting outside. 😉👍👍👍

@@Iveavan Yeah, sealing off the front with the single-glaze windows up there probably helps a lot with thermals. I'm thinking a very heavy-duty curtain instead, and an extra hot air outlet blowing in to the front cabin. As long as all the windows in the back are dual-glaze acrylic motorhome windows, and the walls are very insulated, I suspect the heat loss from the front doesn't have to be critical if you have something like a Webasto diesel heater. But never tried it of course.

The passenger seats are always very expensive, even when they are used. But if you buy a driver's seat from abroad / Germany etc., they usually fit. Here in Germany, a driver's seat costs only half of a passenger's seat.

From memory (it's been awhile since I did my seats mind you😬) The base up and down / tilt forward & back switch should be one feed wire (ground). Both motors for the base should work the same direction when going up and down. But they should work opposite way from each other when tilting forward and backwards (this switch over is done by the relays, forward motor base up relay energized, back motor base down relay energized and vice versus to tilt the opposite way.) The back rest tilt switch should be one ground feed wire but joined up with the base feed wire for ground. Head rest the same. The air bolsters is one positive and one ground wire. @@michaell8835 and in welfare buses , its used quite often, like I said to Allen, I may "revisit" this in the future, as I've got a suspension base for the seat, so the base may go completely, just need to be cracking on with the rest of the build for now 😁👍👍👍

wouldnt it be easier to just place a recliner chair in the van,and save hours of useless work?It all seemed such a waste of time

Wouldn't it be easier just to chuck 30 to 40 k and buy a motorhome, and save all of this useless time? Some people prefer electric seats, some prefer manual, either way, it's going to take time to do 🤷‍♂️, but as you eluded to, it's a waste of time, so this video helped you out, by answering your own question, yeah?

You can't go sit in the recliner when you're going down the road, driving. These seats should be comfortable. Also, a recliner would use up insane amounts of space. Personally I would prefer this setup, especially with the rear partition removed and the chairs on swivels...
