Every bad guy in the world knows the sound of a good guy racking a shotgun, it's a well known deterrent. Excellent video and great advice.

The old Winchester 1300 "Defender" 12 gauge pumps they used to sell at K-Mart and Wal-Mart back in the 1990s for $179 - $200 were great also. I should have bought one of those when I had the chance as they were outstanding for that kind of money. My buddy bought 3 of them back then and I shot them quite a bit. He has since sold 2 of them but still has 1. He also has a Remington 870 Police, Benelli M2, M4 and Benelli M3 select fire like mine. We looked for 5 years for the M3s until we found a pair the same day and each bought one.

It is a good firearm & I did have a Remington 870 & a Mossberg 500 but I traded them for a Benelli M4. I still have the M4 but I can't even remember the last time I fired it. I really like my Rock Island Armory VR80 as my primary shotgun because it's lightweight & has a magazine.

The one with the brace on it. Do I need a special license or something for one like that or can I just buy one? I really like it 👍

Everyone has an opinion. As far as I am concerned, however, the "police barrel" Remington 870, fed with 00 is the weapon of choice when engaging in midnight hallway hunting of "two-leggedus Verminus". The only drawback is the mess you may have to scrape off of your walls the next morning.

Hi buddy, great video but I’d like to confirm that leaving my 12ga 870 loaded (cruiser ready) will not deplete the mag spring. Wolf spring on mine.

Train, train, train. I cannot emphasize it enough.

The best training you can give yourself with a shotgun is shooting airborne sporting clays and skeet. It's amazing how many ninjas can run around and duck cover like they have ants in their pants, but they can't hit a moving target in the air to save their own lives. We used to use defensive shotguns to do this and shot our reloads to do it in very large quantities. I was not uncommon to go out with two .50 cal ammo cans full of reloads and 5 or 6 cases of clays back when they were cheap at around $3.99 a case of 90 then blast them all. After awhile you get where you don't miss and can beat the guys with $2,000+ over under trap specific shotguns. That really makes them butthurt to lose to a Winchester 1300 Defender or Mossberg 500 or 590. It's more the shooter's skill than it is the shotgun. We always used Winchester AA hauls and wads. I also used IMR/Hodgdon 700X powder almost exclusively. Get a good press like a MEC or a Dillon for best results.

I have a very rare Benelli M3 select fire semi/pump in 12 gauge with pistol grip stock and ghost ring sights, Mossberg 590 A1 Military Police in 12 gauge with the ghost ring sights and heat shield, Mossberg 590 Shockwave 12 gauge and a old Steven 311 stagecoach double barrel. Also have a 1998 (pre Freedom Group) Remington 11-87 Premier 12 gauge semi auto and my old H&R 28" single shot 12 gauge but they aren't "tactical" shotguns.

So keep ammo on the gun but then down load the tube... learn to do slug change overs with a fully load gun so your not at an even greater disadvantage.
