These are Big Game Hunting rounds! I attempted to copy the Winchester 24 pellet #1 Buckshot hunting round! The LBC-50 wad is a great performer at 45 yards!

I have this Winchester shell (XB1231) disassembled in front of me. It is not in a shotcup. The pellets average a bit over 0.95” and weigh almost 37gr each. The shot load is significantly over 2 ounces, without considering the buffer and wad mass.

I’ve worked with the LBC 43 wad, 4 slits 3/4 and full cut with Long Shot powder and I had to use an overshot card over the powder to keep from blowing the gas seal out of the wad. I use the 20 ga 1/4” cork cushion in the wad. “T” shot, #4 bk and .30 cal #1 bk have all done good but the smaller pellets really shine in that wad for me. Thanks for all you do and all the knowledge you pass on!

Awesome. We’ve been planning a tps vs lbc 50 wad video. I think the lbc 50 has the win.

The LBC50 is a great all around wad. One of my favorites for steel shot.

Those were all great loads. Personally those last 2 loads were as you said "Outstanding" . That #3 load might be a hidden gem for deer hunting with dogs! I would love to see how those loads perform at 55-60!

Now you got me wondering what a deer and/or hog hunting load made up of 0, 00, and 000 buck would look like on paper. Way back when such loads were referred to as "tri-plex loads" and were used by the British army in two or three different loadings when engaging in jungle warfare back in the 1950s and 1960s. I think it was in either 1989 or 1990 that I stumbled up on a single box of such shells (#6, 0, 00 if memory serves) and fired them through my truck gun of choice at the time, a Maverick 88 with a pistol grip and 18.5" cylinder bore barrel. I basically "mowed the corn" with those shells at twenty yards. The paper targets were so badly damaged they had to be replaced after every shot and the red South Carolina clay backstop looked like it had been nuked by the time I fired the last shot! I would NOT recommend firing such loads from a pistol grip, short barreled shotgun unless you LIKE the aftereffects twenty-five back-to-back rounds would have on your strong side wrist. I must admit that the younger me looked around for a while trying to find another box or two of those factory shells (British of course and I've long forgotten the brand name) but never did. If you ever take a notion to load such shells in a video, I would be very interest in your results at the range and your overall opinion on how effective, if at all, it/they would be on deer.

Hello, have a question. How to you tell the difference between a wad designed for a straight hull vs a wad designed for a tapered hull.
@BubbaRountreeOutdoors
@BubbaRountreeOutdoors Жыл бұрын
most wads will have it on the bag which type hulls they are recommended for: Tapered or straight walled. Most wads are made for straight walled hulls nowadays!

How do you keep a round from roasting the tip.
@BubbaRountreeOutdoors
@BubbaRountreeOutdoors Жыл бұрын
when using a roll crimp, it will usually toast the end of the round. If you can use a standard star crimp you will usually be OK! But roll crimps lower pressures and give you more control over your hull getting too dimpled when using the larger pellets!
