In this video we take a look at one of my favorite and best performing 3" factory buckshot hunting rounds! The Winchester 3" 24 pellet #1 Buck is a great performer but almost impossible to find! I have a 24 pellet 3" round that works just as good!! These 24 pellet Win copies have been some of our our best performers in the field for the last couple years!

When I did the math of 24 pellets of #1 buck at 40.5 grains per pellet, the load comes out to about 2.22 ounces.(972 grains ) I do not have anything that heavy in my buckshot loading manual , did I write something down wrong , The TPS cushioned 12 gauge 58 mm is not on the BP website, I need help Wade , did I miss something . for a 3 inch Cheddite. hull with 28 grains of longshot. Love your videos , saw that Timber Rattler mess up today. I used to hunt snakes in Texas. carrying a floor sweep carboard container with rattlers in it buzzing against your back always gave me the jitters. Today I wonder if the fangs would have punched through the carboard, LOL i would say yes. Texans are a little lacking sometimes in safety.

yeah... the .30 cal #1 buck is too heavy for a 24 pellet load for sure! That's why Win uses a .28 cal pellet. I even use a .275 cal pellet in 1 of my loads.

Wade I obtained a 1969 Lyman shotshell loading manual. They use 700X on Lyman slugs , so I have loaded up some in Feocchi primed shotshell cases ( (616 Primer) Startng from the bottom 21 gr. 700X, 1BPGS gas seal, 1 1/2 inch felt wad, 2 .125 12 ga Nitro Cards, a 1 ounce Foster slug from BP measuring .718 across the ribs. (Roll Crimp) I will let you know how they group out of my 18.5 inch Remington Fieldmaster Pump with rifle sights. I feel by looking at some of this older data that perhaps the slower powders are causing some of hte issues. like HS-6 Blue Dot etc. Just a thought.

Thanks for sharing all your hard work. I just got 2 lbs of Alliant Steel waited 2 years. I have been using Long shot. The only powder I could get but it works great. I have struggled getting components to make up a load out of the Status of Steel book. Most call for Alliant Steel. I live in California. The all nontoxic state.

I've purchased a new Hogden powder called perfect pattern. I've been using it for clays but I wondered how it would perform with buckshot. It's definitely a faster powder, i'm only using 18 grns for 1 1/8 oz.
@BubbaRountreeOutdoors
@BubbaRountreeOutdoors 6 ай бұрын
as long as your shot payload weight is the same, you can use your current data! example: 9 pellets of #00 buckshot weigh around 1 & 1/8th oz.

Hey Wade, with cheap drones becoming more prevalent in modern warfare, used for surveillance and dropping ordinance, shotguns are being utilized to dispatch them over head. Are you able to come up with one of your Hammer Dog rounds, in a birdshot, or wider spreading smaller buck, something 2 3/4 that could be tossed together, stronger than commercially available rounds. Might be good to have a couple dozen on hand for any upcoming struggles, just in case.

Mr. Wade, I'm curious if there may be a 3 inch turkey load in the works using the LBC-50 wad?

Question Wade: Cylinder bore guns use a special wad sometimes to keep the pattern tighter past 25 or so yards. Is this wad one of those that would have that effect, more or less? I think it would, although it's a different application.

Wade I appreciate your content and been watching for years, it’s good stuff for sure. I picked myself up some of them cushion wads and was wondering what charges you were getting good performance out of them with 1.9-2.1 oz charge weights over Steel or Bluedot powders. I mostly shoot 3.5in Remington nitro hulls. It seems to me like they’re a little over pressure cause they sure do kick a lot compared to the same exact load with a precision wad or original TPS
@BubbaRountreeOutdoors
@BubbaRountreeOutdoors 6 ай бұрын
you don't need as much powder in the tapered hulls like the Remington hulls. In the Remington hulls (3.5") I use a 34 grain charge of Blue dot in the 1.9 to 2.1 oz loads.

@BubbaRountreeOutdoors

Hey Tim. Yes you can, but they usually won't be very accurate. A sabot slug needs a rifled barrel to get a good twist on the projectile in order for it to perform decent.
