This is an off-meta PVP build video for the Magicka Templar (Magplar). It's fun to play with a unique set up. It has plenty of tankiness, survivability, and utility for all of your pvp needs. It works best in battlegrounds and small scale open world PVP like Cyrodiil.

Dude I just wanted to say thanks for your videos. I'm that noob pve skrub that you turned to the darkside with your recent poison nightblade pvp build. After destroying literally everything in my path with that build I started watching your other builds for pvp. You've really increased my enjoyment of the game so much so yeah, thanks man. Haha love to hear it! There is nothing like PvP in ESO. It's its own thing that doesn't exist anywhere else. When it's in good shape, its really really great. What you are doing rn is exactly what I would tell anyone to do. Try ALL the things. 1) You are going to find all kinds of weird things you are going to like you didnt know or think you would and 2) It's going to make you better playing against those type of builds, once you understand them. Like this video here. Before watching this, would you have any idea what someone was doing to you and how they were setting up their kill on you as a rangeplar? Almost no one new to pvp would. But just being exposed to this now puts you ahead of the game vs. everyone else who hasnt watched something like this. Good stuff dude, happy for you. Thanks for taking the time to let me know, I appreciate it. 🙏💪 (also, this build is a little outdated. If I remember right, this used Mara's Balm. That's been nerfed to where most people don't use it anymore. Youll want another defensive set of choice, and be mindful its backbarred only with how the set up is.)

I’m running a one bar version of this build and I love it. A PvP Templar that can actually get kills. Draugrkin is a given, Maras is great, way of fire also seems to work for a little more burst and pressure. Gonna try wretched vitality next because I specked heavy into damage but run out of gas if players are super tanky.

My man! I use Way of Fire on several set ups and because of your comment I tried Draugrkin + Fire this morning on this build for a few hours. It's honestly so good I added it as an option to the written guide on the website (Because of you. So thank you very much for that). I was certain it would make the build too squishy (which it probably does for anything more than vs. 2-3 people in Cyrodiil), but it was absolutely cooking BGs today. Great suggestion, I appreciate you. 💪

Runescape has me conditioned to think “range” means bows/crossbows so i thought this was going to be a bowplar 😂 Vateshran Bowplar is a ton of fun though. This build looks cool though. I always love a good spear throw. Its the best looking and feeling ability in the templar’s kit

Hi CEG! Haha, I STILL have never played any version of Runescape. I get suggested to try OSRS somewhat regularly. I may do that sometime here soon, thank you for the reminder. Other than the new jabs, I like the visual style of the Templar quite a bit in general as well. Zos did a fantastic job with the lighting and visual effects on the class.

@@Dooma If you try out Runescape, I would recommend Runescape 3 as an Ironman, or Old School Runescape as a main account, but definitely not RS3 as a main account. RS3 as an ironman avoids the microtransactions, but also limits you from trading with other players (though you can still do most things together) so you have to gather all your own stuff which is honestly the best way to play and explore the game. OSRS does not have microtransactions (or arguably they are just WAY better hidden) so playing a main account is way more fun, but the game itself is much slower than even a Runescape 3 ironman. They are both excellent games

Hi Mayhem! Way of Fire is a fantastic set in general for lots of set ups. (After Scott Frank's comment here, I actually added it to the website's written guide as a mara's replacement if someone wanted to run double offensive sets). I tried it for a while this morning and it worked great. However, I did pair it with Draugrkin haha. I will be honest with you though, I don't know if Fire did so well because if was paired with Draugrkin or of it just works well in general with the build. All I know is it was cooking people left and right. It was way more pressure than I thought it was going to be. I would have to play test fire/mara to find out if that has enough damage to make it worth it. I would say try mara/fire (if you have it already) and see how it works for you. I will play a few games this weekend with fire/mara with it as well and see how it goes. Do me a favor if you like, reply to this comment with anything and I won't check it but use it as a reminder to come back and let you know how the games went (if you are interested). Either way, I appreciate you watching!

Hi Ducky! Most builds that used an inferno staff are now using a lightning staff. Everyone on the website should be updated and good to go for the latest patch.

What morphs do you have for Regeneration, Blessing of Protection and Steadfast Ward for your Life Giver ultimate?

Hi Jeybec! Definitely use Blessing of Restoration and Healing Ward. As far as Regen, that one is a bit more personal preference. Use Rapid for more of a "burst" heal and use Radiating for a heal stretched out over a bit longer amount of time.

Hi Lex! That could definitely work but you may need a defensive set for when focused hard. I plan to test some defensive sets next week as part of stream content and then I will update a few things on the website for everyone.

can you use soul assualt with this build with 3 ticks of soul assualt with deadly strike you can do way more damage then with ice comet?

Hi HVD! Great question! Soul Assault is a mid tier ult. It's not used very often because its so easy to avoid and it locks you into the animation of channeling it for 6 seconds to get all the damage out which is an eternity sometimes in pvp. When you divide out the damage over 6 seconds then factor in the damage reduction in pvp environments, that monstrous tool tip turns unimpressive very quick. Especially considering you cant line up or coordinate any burst damage inside of its damage, only immediately before hand. There also isnt any supplemental damage other than what may be already rolling on the target. The strength of the Daugrkin set is using many damage sources as they will all be increased by its 5 set. When you cast Comet and line up your burst with it, you front load a ton of damage sources into the target at once between the previous crushing spams, 2x dot poisons, any status effects ticking, light attacks, spear stun landing with comet (with comets extra ticking damage in the area also being boosted by Draugrkin, right into your execute beam which will be boosted by 500%, you provide exponentially more pressure, with more damage sources, and kill potential than just channeling soul assaults beam for six seconds which is just going to be avoided by most proficient players. Not to mention the burst comet provided for you and then its additional aoe pressure it provides in team fights. Then you have the utility of slowing everything in the area with comet, helping prevent escapes and aiding in cleaning up kills, providing the chilled status effect to everyone, procing minor maim, reducing their damage done by 5%. I was like you when I discovered it and tried tons of builds to get it to work for pvp. There are a few gimicky set ups out there I've seen people use in the past, but the reality is, very few proficient players will be dying to soul assault, consistently anyway. It's kind of a forgotten skill for most people. It's way overdue for a rework.

It still functions exactly the same. I recently played it for a few days. Even with Mara's nerf, it still is a super solid choice for this build due to its kit. If you don't like the 30s timer and want something with more benefit on a shorter timer, there are lots of defensive options out there. But other than Mara's, it still a super strong build. Hi Alan! Sounds good! I was waiting for today's patch notes before making any decisions. There's a good handful of viable defensive sets. I'll add a few to the written guide and what play style they will benefit most. Unrelated to defensive sets, I have been running double offensive sets for some days now and I am surprised how well it works. It works better than many classes (who need a defensive set). Draugrkin + Way of Fire is EXTRA nasty on this set up. I plan to actually make a short update about it.

Couldn't agree more my man. It's just too strong to not use on a set up like this. I am ready for a whole new meta haha. That said, way of fire works fantastic in the place of Mara if you prefer double offensive sets. It works great in BGs, probably a bit too squishy for solo Cyro stuff though.

Hi Barber! Thank you for watching and your patience! I just got back from an unexpected vacation of sorts. Interesting set up! I would have to play around with it a bit to get a feel for it. I am going to revisit this build here soon on stream to update it on the website. I had planned to potentially add RC, but the Draugrkin + Crushing Shock combo is just too nice for me to drop right now (Draugrkin in general honestly). It's been a while since I tested out variations for this set up, but if I remember right, the Major Defile given from flare wasnt worth the healing reduction it did when trying to line up burst windows. Healing in general is just way too strong right now. But with a crit set up like you have, that could be totally different. I'll have to try it out again. Thank you for the comment!
