That landing shot where you hear the plane whistle past the camera is very nice.

Started out in Enid built new production Lakes, later flew some with Warners, and had one with a W-670 for a number of years. Never flew one with a Ranger. That's a nice one!

Must be fun with a W-670 on the front! Been loving the smoothness of the inline 6. Its a great engine for the airframe

There was even a Great Lakes with a 420 Turbine on it!

@@gawoodbridge I never saw Dwayne Trenton fly it. Saw the airplane at Enid when picking up a new 'Lakes, the Allison had been removed to put on a Pawnee Brave in which Trenton was unfortunately killed test flying. Budd Davisson flew the turbine Lakes, and did an article on it.
Very nicely produced video. I hand prop my c85 j3 . I use to crack the throttle, but asked my self why. An a&p la asked the same question. To prime the cyl. With an air fuel mixture the velocity of air thru the carb will be higher with the throttle closed. Always a anticipate an engineg start. Mags hot or not. Always prop the engine throttle closed. It makes it all just so much sweeter. Try it. If the motor wount start at idle you dnt want to fly it.

So many variables that go into that statement and the word "always" should rarely be used! It's really knowing your engine and what it likes and wants. Cold/warm/hot will all make a difference. Did the IA say for what benefit? You would have to start it and then advance the throttle to warm up RPM immediately anyway. We are pretty good with setting the throttle to a spot that once started brings the engine perfectly to 850 RPM which is where it stays until advancing it to 1000 for warmup. Also, anything outside of what the POH says is usually not correct.....

Those stalls seemed like a non-event. Beautiful job on a unique, inline antique!

No surprises with the stall characteristics, I was surprised at how well it does. Stalls should always be a non-event with a properly loaded airplane. Thanks for watching!

Where is your airstrip?

Fun stuff! Love the old biplanes. I see they're spraying chemtrails in your skies, too. Watch the documentary called "The Dimming" to learn more. We need our blue skies back.
