Ranger RP 190 Tour - I Got A New Boat !!!

....got a few MORE tips...:). The entire console is mounted poorly at the floor through that black rub rail type trim with thin black finish screws to aluminum plate that you can see inside. Those screws loosen over time and the entire console can detach. I am in the process of improving the fiberglass to aluminum brace connections with thin SS sheet metal screws with nylock nuts. The retractable cleat mounting screws can come loose over time and so do the hinged bench seat screws mounted at the live well wall. The trailer side guides boards also rattle the lag bolts loose. I recommend backing them out and coating the threads with Gorilla Glue. (Just don't over torque into the wood when you reinstall). What else...oh....make sure you have a large phillips screwdriver and proper size lug wrench in case of a flat. (You need the phillips to remove the center cap). Oh, here's something you'll appreciate...the console cup holders. Simple fix... Wrap 1 or 2 layers of electric tape on the outside of them just below the top trim. They will never fly out again. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the boat. But I did have some fit and finish issues to overcome. It's a good thing I like working on the boat as much as fishing out of it.

Congratulations Joe! Good luck with it. It's a beautiful boat and I'm so happy for you that you will be fishing more comfortably. I seen that vanilla Joysee license plate! I though maybe u were gonna move up here to CT to be closer to that great smallie lake, but having grown up in South Orange, I could see why you wouldn't want to leave Jersey. Spent all my summers growing up at Bradley Beach, just a nice walk on the boardwalk into Asbury Park! You've got some great salt water fishing down there! Been missing your videos, and I'm glad to hear you will be back at it - I look forward to them! Bruce Raiken

Hey Joe, I have the same RP version in white with a 115 Merc. Very versatile boat. I replaced the fuel tank early this year. The original (which you have) is poor quality. Mine had an unrepairable leak on the sending unit mounting connection. The newest version of the tank is WAY BETTER. You can order it through Ranger and it's about $400.00. Another drawback I found is maneuvering the boat in reverse at the dock. Horrible control. Be careful, it will go into a freaky spin. It's because of the pad hull. The newest version of our boat has a different transom/bottom design that I'll bet eliminates this flaw. Oh and the trailer chatter you hear is because of the mid (unused) roller under the boat. I quieted the chatter by installing a bolt and spacers that prevents the annoying rattle. (the rear roller doesn't make the noise because your transom saver keeps it secure while trailering. Also... the front electric buss connections under the deck just below the trim/light switch of the boat was glued to the hull at the factory. It may have popped loose and could short out if it turns upside down onto the aluminum hull. I had to secure mine to prevent this. Unscrew and pull out your giant center plastic locker tub to inspect the wiring (super easy to do). Enjoy your rig!

Thanks for the comment, I have not had issues with my tank yet but thanks for the heads up ill keep my eye on it. I have not noticed much maneuverability issues in reverse yet either. Coming from driving an old flat bottom boat this thing is a big upgrade for me but I will keep it in mind. I also dont hear much trailer chatter but that roller is pretty useless in my opinion aswell. Ill have to investigate that electrical bus aswell. Thanks for the tips, I appreciate it👍🏼.

Thank you! It is great for big lakes and open water. Handles 2-3ft chop decently. It is a real fun boat on flat calm days!

How do you like the boat after a year of having it?

Ive had it a little over 2 yeats now. It is a 2016. Its been a great boat, solid hull. Love the etec. The boat handles well. Put alot of time on it and really dont have any complaints about the performance. The finish is where I have complaints. I meticulously maintain the boat washing it after every use and the paint is starting to bubble in certain areas. Very frustrating to say the least.

@@JoeGreco are you able to trim? I have a Lund Predator 2070cc and I can't trim it at all or my boat porpoises. I have to leave mine trimmed all the way down.

@@hulkhuggett I can trim a little bit but not much or else I run into the same issue. Was thinking about adding a hydrofoil to help stabilize it.

@@JoeGreco Man, thank you very much for the reply. That actually helps out tremendously. I feel like that's something the dealers should mention. Let me know if that hydrofoil works out for you. I was thinking about Bennett self-adjusting trim tabs, but they said I couldn't use them due to my pods.
