Did you ever get your coin box? Too big was an excuse they gave you. They’re all the same on the aluminum rt models. I got my Ranger rt188p the same time you did and I’m being told they have no solution for the supplier shortage. I’m not getting anywhere with Ranger. I just ordered a carpeted Bass Cat step box for mine after giving up on Ranger. I have serious buyers remorse. I have too many issues to mention.

I no this is off the path, but I live on the same lake as Darien, this Thursday we had freak storms of at least 60 mph winds that broke two cables on my pier and sent it sideways, while trying to fix it back , just to let you no I’m 63 yrs. and disabled. This guy came to my pier out of probably 100 other people and took his new boat and pushed my pier back in place , because I could not not it but myself in the wind. Until I could secure my new cables. This guy is Truly a special person!

Ranger warranty is top notch. Lifetime warranty on the hull, transom, interior ribs, and external welds. Go look at Vexus, only a 5 year warranty on internal parts. Xpress...good luck even finding their warranty online. Ranger's warranty it's easy to find on their website and clear as day. In addition, there is a video on KZbin of a guy with a 2017 198P with a cracked hull. Ranger gave him a 2021 model under warranty. That's right, replaced the entire boat. That's why you buy a Ranger.

Glad this is your Dream Boat! My 2020 RT198P Dream Boat turned into a nightmare. Johnny Morris/White River Marine in my opinion have destroyed the Ranger Name! This boat has been a thorn in my ass since the day I picked it up from Pros Choice Marine in Warsaw MO. Problems before I even put her in the water. Of course you get the warranty work but that means they keep your 1 day old boat that you paid $35k for for 3-6 months to do repairs, in the middle of COVID, the newest excuse for everything gone wrong in the USA. Contacted Joe Palmere the Ranger Quality Assurance Guru and he was absolute no help. To add insult to injury, fished a tournament this weekend and noticed the paint was separating from the boat. Ranger Boats used to be the top of the line Boat. Thanks to Johnny Morris and White River Marine they are the Most F’d up boat on the water. The purchase of this. Oat was the worst decision of my life and I’ve been married 5 times! Duck BPS And White River Marine! Hoping to get my 2024 198p in a couple of weeks. I’m coming from a 1968 14’ John boat so I’m sure I’ll be happy with it. Be nice just to have something to actually move around the lake lol. I’ve never even been in a big fiberglass much less owned one so I don’t think I’ll know the difference. I am pretty nervous, I’ve seen a lot of negative about this boat, of course no one ever talks about things when they are happy with them. I looked hard into Vexus and some of the other brands and it really comes down to budget for a lot of us getting into aluminum rigs. The same length boat with the Lowrance package and trolling motor was 10-12K more and that just wasn’t in the budget. Hopefully it works out ok.

Nice boat. Just go out and enjoy it. Have fun and don't worry about the dents and dings. I have a 21 foot Xpress boot after coming from a 17 foot Bass Tracker and I love it. It rides like a glass boat and it's tough enough for me to duck hunt out of as well as bass fish. I can bump around in the stumps and nothing hurts this boat.

Yes, I looked at the Ranger and the Tracker. The Tracker is a little larger, has more storage and has a larger front deck. I just wasn’t impressed with the Ranger at all and it appears that Darien has some of the same thoughts as I do about them. To be fair I am comparing it to the Tracker Pro 195 which isn’t exactly your old school Tracker that Darien is referring to.

Me and my dad ordered our 188p january and it will be here sometime next week, just got the update it was loaded onto the truck to come out west. We have a club tournament scheduled on the 22nd so it'll be off in the deep end for breaking in the new boat haha. We'll see how we like it when it gets here

I was looking at the Ranger, Lund,, Express,, Crestline, and Vexus. Couldn't see where the Ranger was worth the money they wanted for it. It appeared to me to be just a more expensive Bass Tracker to. Instead I went with a Vexus AVX1980 (the express was choice #2) and I am glad I did, I absolutely love my new boat.

Vexus defeats the main purpose of going aluminum....you can’t get shallow in them they have hauls designed just like fiberglass

I agree that I can't get as shallow as I could in my lowe stinger 175c, but can still get fairly shallow. It came down to fit, finish, ride quality, and performance to me. It is not a speed demon by no means but been able to run mid to upper 50's consistently. The ride and stability though is what really sold us on the avx.

Although the express aluminum is nice it has a deal with the storage boxes has a tendency to fill with water so that’s why I went with the Ranger instead of Xpress

Ranger Rt rigs are nice aluminum boats! Don't listen to others who say "they are crap now because they are own by Bass Pro" they are not crap. I should know because I own one. It's been great! I've been in Ranger, Tracker, Tritons, Xpress, Lowe, Lund, and Vexus aluminum boats. All and I do mean all had at least a couple issues I thought. I would say Vexus was the best but if I rated them base on most experience I would go. Ranger rt 8/10 Xpress Hyper-Lift 8/10 Tracker TX 6/10 Lund Renegade 8/10 Vexus AVX 9/10 Lowe Stinger 7/10 Just my opinion.

I know you’re a ranger guy but you may look into Vexus. I have the avx 1880 and when compared to the rt188p there’s no comparison. Fiberglass boxes and live well in the rear and handles rough water insanely well!

I have the same boat. I like it, but don’t love it. You’ll like your coin box when you get it. I heard they quit making them. I pulled that rod holder out of the side compartment and can get 13 rods in it with sleeves.

My PawPaw has a 1980 vexus aluminum boat and it has the same layout but the boat is as nice as a fiberglass on the inside . Same motor and full load with two people we can run 51 , we broke it in with nothing in the boat and hit 55

I think from what you said in this video that vexus aluminum is more of what you were looking for, it has no feel of a bass tracker . the only downside is it has that same stupid step compartment in the floorboard like your boat and the paint is not rhino lined like you said an Xpress is . either way I think both boats look good and get over them shallow flats and creeks👍🏻

Alot bigger back boxes then the crestliners and Lowe's though. The crestliner boxes also get soaked, I think it is just an aluminum boat thing.

My Jackplate motor is messed up and it is too high. The Jackplate needs to come down and the engine needs to come down 1 hole. I will update once all that is done!

It must be hard to go from a glass boat to an aluminum boat, but you can’t tell me that you expected the same amenities of a glass boat, especially the ones you’ve had, in an aluminum boat? I will say that a lot of people are turning to tin rigs so maybe the amenities will get better over time. I’ve been eyeballing this model in a 17 or 18 ft but after listening to this video I think I better keep looking!

You’re right, I wasn’t expecting all of the amenities...but when they pay attention to the details like Fiberglass console, coin box, and front graph mounting area, you would expect matched quality throughout the boat. Not to be confused, I love it overall so far!

The Tracker influence shows through on the 2021 models. The Ranger aluminum's are now built in Lebanon MO next to the Trackers. I have a 2020 that was built in Flippin. BIG difference in fit and finish.

Not trying to be a hater but rangers are low quality shit now. They say they are full of foam inside the boat most of the ones i’ve seen have a tiny tiny bits of foam. If you go and look up under the boat you can see where the compartments are and they have tons of room to make those compartments bigger. They aren’t made like they used to be.

Unfortunately Tracker Marine bought out Ranger in late 2014. All aluminum Rangers are made in Tracker plants now and I honestly think the quality has gone down. Ranger glass is still the way to go. I have buddies that have the Tracker 195 and it seems to be a better layout. Tight lines!
