@Bronco Belligerence like I said above, great for a beginner behind the wheel. A kid hanging out with Grandpa driving thru the Pasture to check the Cows and Bulls. It's not designed to run low 5's at the Drag Strip or qualify for the Daytona 500. It's simply an affordable conversion that could be installed in almost any vehicle and be fuel efficient. Could change up the gear ratio by experimenting with different sized sprockets for desired speeds. Me personally, I would build it as an off-road vehicle only. Basically a Farm Truck that can take a Beating while Trail Riding, Creek Crossing for Deer Recovery, Etc. Nothing Extreme. A Large high toothed sprocket for low end Grunt would be perfect. Fixing up an older vehicle would be alot cheaper than a fully enclosed UTV or SxS. I grew up Raising Hell in the Country, so there's plenty of places a kid could go on Go-Carts and Mini Bikes. But this would have changed the game up. It doesn't take much upgrading to unleash the potential of small engines. It really comes down to a Person's Imagination, Mechanical Experience, and Budget. Some Guy's in my area actually use this set-up in their Custom Built Rock Crawlers.
@BlueOvals242 жыл бұрын
@@ThrelkeldOutdoors A gravel road doesn't count as a rock crawl, and a gravel road is about all you'll be doing with less than 10hp. I'm all for small engines, that's why I like SXS, and one of those would be far better than a Ranger with one cylinder. The problem with this build is how much that truck frame weighs compared to a purpose build SXS. And I never said this thing should be fast, a stock 2.3 is about the slowest thing you could get on the road, yet it's still a better option than this. And for teaching someone to drive, there should be some power involved. Obviously don't throw a new driver into a GT500. But a modest 100hp is enough to teach them all aspects of driving, including throttle control. They'll never learn throttle control with 6.5hp because that's not enough power to even get the wheels to chirp. They'll drive around with this thing pinned, then have no idea how to control the throttle when they get something with even modest power. Engines like these belong in go carts and entry level SXS and this video proves that.
@ThrelkeldOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
