As an American, I LOVE THE BOOING! The American players seemed to revel in the attention and “hate.” While it made the crowd even more energized and leads to better hockey on the ice! Despite what people say in their attempts to criticize these various hockey tournaments, putting on your country’s jersey and representing who you are means something!

I think i've said this before, but I think the max fine should be decided by % of cap hit with 5k being the max for a league minimum player. This would reign in guys like Wilson (or whoever the dirty, but also good player is these days) while also not unfairly threatening guys getting called up for physicality.

Domi & Hathaway have a history. Back at the beginning of their careers they had a fight that didn't go well for Domi (when he played for Phoenix and Hathaway was on Calgary). Domi ended up injured and missed a couple of months. I don't remember what the injury was, but he was pretty bloody at the end of the fight. I don't know if he was thinking back that far, but I wouldn't be surprised. Plus, Kailyev becomes the second Staten Island player to play for the Rangers, after Nick Fotiu. He wasn't born here but grew up here. Still, that's nothing because Columbus has two Staten Island players right now at the same time (Aston-Reese and Labanc).

2 things we have learned from the 2025 WJC: 1. This defending champion US team was the first defending champion that proved they were hungry for more. 2. This has to be a wake-up call for Canada because next year is the winter Olympics, and how they are developing is not good enough.
@RRaquello
@RRaquello Күн бұрын
I don't think World Juniors is any indication of how the Olympics will go. The Olympics will be run by NHL professionals. Hockey Canada is a bunch of the type of people who get off on being the big shot in their suburban HOA. Canada will be the favorite in the Olympics and should win. Maybe they don't because there's good competition, but they're still the best team.
@jamesstemmler7620
@jamesstemmler7620 Күн бұрын
@@RRaquelloon top of that the problem with the above thinking is that this WJC outcome could dictate the coming Olympics maybe the Olympics after that but certainly not this one as none of the players from the world juniors are going to be on our Olympic team next year. It's more of an indicator of our development issues becoming a problem in the distant future not the immediate impacts as the current best Canadians as far as the NHL level is concerned are absolutely world class and could compete for a gold medal. Our biggest question mark for next year's Olympics is really the goaltending more than the rest of the team

Kaliyev I assume is the replacement for Kaako but the Rangers are going to be making more moves, I feel like something is brewing between them and Canucks, as so many insiders mentioned Miller to the Rangers as the only team he would accept a trade to, and then you got Kreider too. Rangers this season are so strange this season, I do not think it has ever happened for a team to win the Presidents trophy, head to the Conference Finals to being near the bottom of the Eastern Conference, but they got to do something as they are not so far out of a playoff spot to fold this season and try again next year.

I thought Kaliyev would end up with the Islanders, but I thought the Rangers would be the dark horse there. I figured the Sharks and Hawks wouldn't be interested in a piece that might hurt their tank. With the Rangers, I thought they might not want the headache of a player with Kaliyev's reputation, but they might also be desperate to find something to turn their fortunes around. The Islanders do have that feel of an organization that thinks it can fix any problem player. Will be interesting to see if Kaliyev can get his numbers back up and stay healthy in MSG.
@RRaquello

I don't get the Islanders. They're desperate for goals and if Kaliyev can do anything he can score goals. If it don't work out, you let him go. There's no risk to it. They had dibs on waivers before the Rangers so why not take a chance?

You know what? I'd play for a new arizona team. Really! I think I'm an 0-11 start to the season kind of player. I think I could that, consistently. Count me in.

Here’s a crazy idea… let a multi billionaire pay for their own damn arena. That way all that billionaire needs is approval to build, not approval to take from the tax base. I know, I know, that’s just crazy talk. I don’t know what came over me.
