No doubt. They build their team around the goaltender, which is nuts. I don’t know if that’s what they need to do, but as a devils fan at the deadline when the rangers started trading young guys and assets for older “experienced” guys I feel like it was a big mistake. Good analysis - good job. Imagine: the management bends over backwards to get the best possible players and spend every last dime that the NHL lets them and the results in the playoffs look like they do right now - why? Well imo it is easy - most of the players are comfortable in NYC. How many times have you heard Kane say he likes NYC and really wants to go there - he didn't say he wants to win another Cup - no. My take on the reason for this lack of performance is simply psychological because we know the talent is there when it shows it head above the morass. Just look at their depeannor after a game even when they win - a tough spectacle to watch and even harder to hear as they mumble, fumble, and gaze down at the floor as they speak - a real confidence booster isn't it? A few weeks ago I sent an email to MSG with the following: Watching the post game interview of the RANGERS players on Rangers TV does not lend itself to a display of confidence among most of those players interviewed. I recognize these are young players but their body language portrays a less than adequate level of confidence needed to win a Stanley Cup. In fact it seems like no one is ready to stand up and say "We got this". I would love to see one of the players look right into the camera's or interviewer's eyes and with determination and a louder than normal whispering voice respond to questions. They are far too timid! Imagine going to your car dealer for a repair and having the sales person look away or down on the ground as he is trying to give you confidence that your car that you love so dearly will be fixed right. Now if I were the boss, I would get a success coach out there to talk with the team and get them BELIEVING that they can win the Cup. If they don't think this then why are they wasting our time? Their timidity needs to be erased - not to blind arrogance but to a level where it spreads from one player to another and catches fire. I do sense that the team is missing this spark player and this leader is not always the best player on the team. Of course you are probably saying no and that this observation is way off base - but rest assured it is obvious to anyone watching from outside the arena. The team has the talent, the coaching staff has the skill and the Fans have the support for this effort to be successful. Remember: Success is an attitude. With the right attitude the rest will fall into place. A little psychological work as you get into next week will go a long way. The damage to the fans as a result of loosing three straight will be evident on Saturday at MSG. It will dampen any real celebration if the Rangers win because there is no confidence amongst the players and the fans that this team even knows the mindset needed to secure a win much less a Stanley Cup.
@domenicdurante966 Жыл бұрын
I partly agree with you. Back in the '50s- yes, the '50s- the Rangers hired a hypnotist to try and instill some confidence in the players. Of course, it failed. The Rangers aren't confident because they don't win the dozens of small battles on the ice. Why not? They don't have the players to win those battles. They had a guy like Ryan Reaves, who does win battles, so they let him go. Who is left? Kreider? He shows up half the time. Trouba? He lays someone out about once a month. Trocheck and Goodrow don't scare anyone. Schneider will only engage if someone hits him first. It's a soft, vanilla team. Has been for years. You are correct about their demeanor. Very soft spoken and seemingly timid. When these guys speak, either you can't hear them or understand them. I want to see some missing teeth when they answer questions. Some brawny, scary Beukeboom types. Heck, I'll even take an Esa Tikkanen, a real pest for the opposing squad. This Ranger team has good boys, but no real men on the ice.

I’ve held my tongue for way too long on this but I do think getting Kane was an awful move. Why??? You just got Tarasenko…. It was definitely unnecessary it’s just another new player to coach and work around. Such a bad move by the front office. I’m sad typing this because I’ve been a Patrick Kane fan for 10 years now and happy to have him here. It’s just not working out. Had we only gotten Tarasenko I feel like this would be a Stanley cup team for real. By adding Kane and Tarasenko you took away the power dynamic of Panarin and Zibanejad our two top scorers. They took a step back once senko and Kane came which they should not have and was a big mistake to do so. I have watched the last 20 games and all they do is try and dump it to Kane just for him to pass it right back….. they are like expecting Tarasenko and Kane to takeover. That’s not how it works. They will add extra pressure and dynamic but that’s only if Panarin and zibanejad kept playing like th why were #1 and #2 instead of taking a back seat for senko and Kane…. We beat ourselves as usual. I don’t give jersey credit for us beating ourselves …..
@njdcd950003 Жыл бұрын
Sounds like your #1 and #2 aren’t really that then. The Rangers crapped down their leg as soon as they met the smallest amount of adversity in this series. Hockeys decided by the slimmest of margins and this series no doubt could have gone the Rangers way if they won game 3 for example, but throughout the duration of this series one team played without fear and one team seemed to let the pressure get to them. Alas, as you’ve said before, we stand no chance in the next round, so I could only imagine what would have happened to the Rangers against a faster disciplined Carolina team, we won’t find out.
