I love to watch John Dudley videos, I think he’s one of the best. I think people take the fun out of hunting by trying to overthink things. Grab your Bow, Gun or Camera and get in the woods and have fun. You will learn from your mistakes and videos also. Happy Hunting Y’all.

I made a device that immediately shows how many percentages of the measured distance should be taken away when shooting at an angle. From 0 to 100% when shooting vertically down or up.The device is built into the quiver. You need to measure the distance first, then point the 10m pin at the target and look at the device, then take away the correction and you can shoot.

Are you saying here that the distance to the bottom of tree in this example should be same as horizontal or less ? Just trying to clarify ?
@mgrundy Жыл бұрын
your shot distance to the ground/base of the tree is gonna be closer to the same distance at eye level. if you range 15 at eye level and 17 at ground level, shoot for 15 (assuming the tree is fairly straight vertically). Good luck rest of the season!

What you want is the horizontal distance. If your range finder is angle compensating you should get the same number at the base and level. If it’s not angle compensating, the base will show as further than the horizontal.

At 20’ up in the tree, 25 yards away will give you a shot angle distance calibrated to 25.8 yards. At 20’ up in the tree, 15 yards away will give you a shot angle distance calibrated to 16.3 yards. So really not much of a difference there for white tail in the south on flat ground for me but at steep angles especially in western hunting it would make a difference. No need to spend the money for a new range finder in my case

Or just use a EZV sight and you won't need a range finder at all
@stiixbeatman Жыл бұрын
I bought the EZ-V followed all the setup (including chronographing my arrows) installed the correct insert and after a minor adjustments this is the SHIT, no going back, stadiametric ranging works !! No Worries.
