I'm surprised nobody mentioned the awesome homages to true grit and Chinatown

i wonder if they noticed how rango at first does not know who he is or wants to be and how after he returns from his journey back to the town to rescue everyone he becomes who he was acting like for majority of the first 80%..he found himself..its so satisfying how its done..he does not have a liar reveal scene or some goofy mistake scene...he realizes he has been playing sheriff too long and now its dangerous serious and he needs to quit to save people's lives...its very mature..he just walks away...like a coward but saves himself...if he was forced out it would feel corny..the way he leaves is iconic to me in storytelling...he stops acting...he is back to being nobody...

I would LOVE to see a sequel to this movie!

Me too, but they'd need to have a darn good plot for it. I doubt they'll do a sequel, but a new movie from these guys would be awesome.

I wouldn't mind that, or even just a short.

ThePhantomThylacine Yeah, they could do a short movie about the characters and what the town was like before it became dry. That would be awesome.

I don't know. It's kind of like cowboy bebop for me. It's so great that they should just leave as it is. And you shouldn't fuck with something so great and sublime...and sequels usually suck ass...for example sherlock holmes two, or black butler season two...

Virgil Aeneid That is true. But there are good sequels out there too. For example I never thought Kung Fu Panda 2 would be good, but it turned out to be even better than the first one (at least in my opinion). And I do think Rango has potential for a good sequel. But whether we get a sequel or not, Rango will stay as one of my favorite movies (not just animated movies). Hell, I hadn't watched it in over a month, watched it again just yesterday and loved it as much as I did the very first time.

Despite being weird this movie was very well received and I have a DVD of it I like Rango it's a realistic movie but not too realistic realistic enough for kids to handle

Wish the story went as weird as the animation. As it is, the story is just "Liar's Reveal" cliche'. A matinee from me.

At the very least though, I appreciate that it's the "Liar Revealed" story that ultimately goes "It doesn't matter that you lied. It's time to step up and be a man" which none of these stories ever do. It doesn't waste time with him pleading for forgiveness and trying to come up with a new plan. He just has to accept his role in the story that he placed himself in.

I loved how ugly this movie was. Like animation is so clean and toy like but I Rango everyone just look so dry, dusty, and nasty and it’s so refreshing to see that.
