This comp only wins if you hit or not. You'll get at least 3 people contesting with 1 at 20hp, 1 at 40, and 1 at 60-75. 1st placer is the dude that just went full vertical x build with no contest since 3 monkeys are always eyeing out for varus/TK 2. Its a 50/50

The real risk is getting items for Varus and not hitting the 2*. One solution I had was playing Fiora Gwen + Preservers/Flex frontline with Varus holding debuff items like Morello/LW etc. Though recently the warrior line has increased in pickrate so it might also be tough to pivot to it.

gives you the option to sell more units to make interest if you get dropped extra gold. Quite rare that it matters, but its a good habit

Not true. Armor Shred is applied BEFORE damage now. So LW is viable on Varus, even tho pure AD/Crit is still better, it"s more than OK. I think it's just since this set.

funny enough back at the end of 14.17 and start of 14.18 people regard Varus being crap with his only saving grace the Shapeshifter/Blaster/Frost pick rate going up but then again you rarely even use him as a carry on those boards. Suddenly he became one of the best 4 costs carries in a span of a few days
