"there's no pump that can pump steam so we use a condenser" this was great
@David_Mash2 жыл бұрын
Why would you even need to waste energy on the pump. There should be a thermosiphon effect.
@brendanc92764 ай бұрын
@@David_Mash i would assume relying on the thermosiphon effect by itself wouldm't generate enough pressure to allow the steam to reform
@erhardbock1228Ай бұрын
From 3-4 there is an isothermal process taking place i suppose. Because the Temperatur would change if it was an isobaric process as you assumed. Plus there would be a different curve within the T-S diagram for an isobaric process.

I used to teach thermodynamics and it is one of the most badly explained topics in science. I think it is a legacy of the people that were pioneers in the field. They happened to be awful teachers that came up with bad explanations which have been repeated from one generation to the next. This is a shame, because thermodynamics is a wonderful subject that can be incredibly useful.

Hello. In the condenser, when the temperature drops, why doesn't pressure drop too?

I hope I can answer it in a very simple way. But here it is, Heat Exchangers does not drop their pressure ideally since we are not compressing and expanding a fluid.

Can someone explain what kind of feedwater pump can handle this kind of temps and achieve bigger than boiler pressures? Can you use a smaller turbine working as a pump directly connected to the turbine shaft?
@EarthPen3 жыл бұрын
Brother, remember that feedwater pump must have higher pressure than your boiler because that's how Second law works. Also, there are main turbines that have 3 types of turbines connected in one shaft (HP, IP, and LP Turbine).

Could this be a perpetual motion device if the device is generating it's own energy for evaporation and condensation?
@pedrovisco92315 жыл бұрын
Dude, this kind of thing doesn't exist. The carnot efficiency (just based on the temperature difference, ignoring all the losses) never gets 100%. Beside that, there's something called "the second law of thermodynamics" that says that the entropy of a closed system ALWAYS increase through time. In other words, you cannot create a perpetual motion or infinity energy device.

This appears to be a good, informative presentation but I stopped watching after a minute due to the distracting music. Imagine going to a lesson and as the lecturer is talking there is music in the background at the same volume as the speaker. There are some excellent comments here but as a mature learner it is too distracting for me. IMHO if the info is well presented, you don't need music.
