The reason content marketing is #1 is CONTROL. You control everything. From Monetizing, Building a lazer targeted audience, Nurturing that audience, retargeting that audience in ads, create a look a like audience and so on. It takes away all the guess work and the fear of not knowing how others are marketing and promoting your music. For example. Who's making the better marketing move? The Repost Page OR The person paying the repost page for marketing? At the end of the day The Repost Page Benefits More!!! They have the CONTROL.
@deltabox3 жыл бұрын
with ads on social media the key for getting more traffic and fans to check out ur stuff is to advertise content that is relatable and genuine to the audience, like if u wanna promote ur single then the visuals needs to be interesting and if it isn't that inreresting then the caption NEEDS to sound as genuine as possible and shouldn't come off as needy i can guarantee u that more people would take the time of the day to check out ur song that way, speaking from personal experience, like some even commented "finally a good ad that i actually wanna click on" and stuff, so keep in mind to always be genuine and don't come off as needy and thirsty for their attention!

Yes… I decided to do for myself several years ago what the labels do. The grass roots connection to my fans feels wonderful. They respect me as a person and a rap artist. They love and know songs I put our years ago. Do it all yourself, the work is real but the rewards are worth it. If that’s your goal.

With a concert promoter background, I completely agree with the press. I would maybe even put the $1.80 strategy above that. With press, you're spending a ton of time or money on something that's read mostly by people within the industry. So, it's good because people within the industry might see your name, but unless you already have something going on (ie. lots of followers, streams, or views) or interesting on your platforms, they're going to keep moving. I've seen quite a few critics darlings with no following and can't sell a ticket to a show. Don't waste money on PR or publicists, until you've done and mastered everything else that Kohrey and the crew are teaching. Love the content! Thank you!

Concert promotion is another art. Tony Danza got booked at the local college. Marketing was inside the college and on the college theatre email list and a bit of last-minute radio. Most students _parents_ were too young to remember Danza so the theatre was almost empty (to his credit he and his band gave a great performance though he must have been thoroughly pissed). About half a mile away there's the old townhall theatre - he'd have been selling out additional shows in that theatre!

@2gunzfilms4253 жыл бұрын
It’s not complicated at all. It’s actually literally the same as brick and mortar. Think about it like this...ITunes is the record store. Record companies pay for front page space on iTunes just like they used to pay to be in the front section of the store with cardboard cutouts and posters. Social media is like being at the mall handing out fliers and cds. Same principle.

I think you are spot on with the getting press. I think newspaper or magazine articles could help more than blogs but then again who reads the newspaper today? lol. Things like getting an interview in the local paper might have helped some 30 years ago but now no one reads the paper. I think social media influencers killed the bloggers because the content is more easily accessible. Getting press only works on a major label budget where the label pays like 100k to get you on a popular late night show that has an audience of 10M. Magazine press might work at an underground level but then things like print, magazine, newspapers and blogs are generally dead.

Honestly, love all this content, I think it's very helpful. But I am 5:29 in, and I realized that none of this explains how artists the blow up blow up. I am wondering to myself, of the artists that I use as models for success (the level of recognition I would like to achieve as an artist) examples: Lil Tecca, 21 Savage, Pop Smoke, Dusty Locane, Pooh Sheisty -- it's hard for me to imagine these guys carefully crafting their social media strategies.. how does an artist appear out of nowhere and get 100,000,000 listens on a song? They are pretty much always signed to a label already, so I want to know how do I do it without the label (how do I do what the labels do to get these artists the promo they need to take off) ?

i think its mostly just networking & getting to know people in the industry but im not sure
@2gunzfilms4253 жыл бұрын
Tbh it’s really simple...but it requires a decent amount of money. It boils down to simply this...$2500 will get you roughly 250k views on an ad on KZbin. If somebody watches your ad for 30 seconds or more it charges you between 5-20 cents depending on the channel it’s played on. If you make your KZbin video of your song an ad, and spend $2500 promoting it, eventually before you get to that $2500 budget spent, you’ll have well over 100k views mostly because a lot of times people don’t skip ads until after 30 seconds in because they can’t at least until 15 seconds in, and the other 15 seconds they haven’t even noticed it’s an ad yet (if the song/video is actually good). Fast forward...$2500 spent = 100k+ views/streams......you’ll get roughly $1200-1700 of that back on your royalty statements from your streaming service (i.e DistroKid)

I think this is a really smart list and in fact I will probably recommend it on my next newsletter because it makes a lot of sense but one caveat that I think hasn’t been mentioned is recommendation lists. If the curator has a following and people in the industry pay attention to that person then the lists of new music that they compose tend to do really well at driving targeted audiences to that music the same way that an influencer on TikTok or Instagram might recommend a song to their audience curators do it through blogs or social and do a good job

My $1.80 method back in the forum days was to give constructive criticism with my link connected of course… this is back when Futureproducers and soundclick was the thing. This method got me number 1 on soundclick for a day or 2…back then most music websites had a forum section to post your music for reviews and I would target as many as I can. So imagine not only are you attracting the person your Critiquing you can possibly attract most of the people that saw the post. So for this to really work you can’t be disrespectful and your advice gotta be meaningful like you no your shit. Like little tips and tricks they could of tried on their mix… lol this approach will force them to check your link to see if your music sounds any better then theirs 😂

If we have the money to invest, where do we go to find those we can pay to do all of this for us? How do we find reputable social media marketing companies who we can pay to do all of this for us? Is there a specific niche in marketing companies that will handle all aspects of everything you spoke to here? So much of what you said resonates as real for me. The fact is that we live in a pay-to-play world. Even the huge acts have to pay millions to sell millions. Your term 'gate-keeped out' speaks exactly to this truth. It's a tilted playing field surrounded by a gilded fence guarded by the exclusionary exclusivity of the corporatists. I expect that the sort of company I am envisioning will be populated by young and hip individuals. Not old school status quo marketing firms. So, where are they and how do we get in touch with them?
