Edit: MINOR CORRECTIONS: I pronounced hebra wrong also I said chillfin trout make food to prevent freezing when it doesn’t. Nothing major but thought I should fix that 🔥 Just a minor note, I’m having a bit of trouble getting the big play through video up on the second channel, so that will come at a later date. Otherwise enjoy the video!!!

Not going to lie, I legitimately thought that your #1 pick would place dead last, as it is literally placed on the required route to reach the wind temple, and is a blessing, but I never considered the climb to the wind temple as part of the shrine.

I definitely understand that, I think it’s just a difference in philosophy though. If you completely ignore the climb up then it sucks, but since I feel like it’s part of the shrines challenge, I like it a lot

1:55 lmao imagine my surprise when I saw this vid in my sub box while I'm working on my own TotK Shrine ranking video. Don't feel bad fam, we will push each other to be the best content creators we can both be 🤝 I'll skip out on watching this video for now until I've finished mine so that I can keep to my own ranking 100% un-influenced. Also considering these circumstances I think you're gonna find something I say in my Shrine video pretty ironic (hint; it involves you :))

Personnaly, it think the courage to fall shrine was one of the few shrines that actually felt like a puzzle instead of a sandbox challenge. The name gives you a clue to the solution, and if logically figure it out, all of the laser emitters make you fall below the floor, and you have to get below the floor to find the chest.

Sasan and Finley is actually better in TotK than BotW. In the original Japanese version, they were just pen pals, but some English translators had the bright idea of making it romantic since Finley, being a species with slow aging, is probably older than Sasan despite her size. TotK's English translation makes this closer to their pen pal relationship instead of the weird romantic one.
@diadsalies
@diadsalies Жыл бұрын
The rumor blaming the english localizers for the weird romance angle between finley and sasan became overblown because of a youtube video that ironically misinterpreted the original japanese. The romantic implication was always there, ans the english localizers most likely were just trying to make it less weird without erasing the original intent by emphasizing the zora aging. This is straight from the youtuber who originally made that misguided video; they even released a correction video apologizing for the original video they made. kzbin.info/www/bejne/r4TMhoR-nbeYlassi=ngGn6essZxoYY7qt

On the against the flow shrine, I also had a great personal experience. For some reason, on this, and the other obsidian shrine, I had a joke with myself where I made bridges and I said “Me love bridges, me bridge lover.” I made bridges for every puzzle, including the last one even though I could see the fans for a way easier path. Also, since, for some reason, I thought this joke was very funny, so I even renamed my switch console in the settings to “Bridge Lover”

#97 Proving Grounds: Flow Is my favorite of the Proving grounds though. You see, you don't actually swim to the rafts, but you use Ultrahands to let the contrusts Drown and short circuit in water. It's extremely fun and easy if you know this trick.
@PaulFisher
@PaulFisher Жыл бұрын
Yeah, seeing the constructs on the rafts and putting the pieces together of how they can’t swim was a satisfying little moment. So you get both the sadistic pleasure of watching the river riders drown, and there are some other land-bound constructs that you can experiment with, which gives the shrine some variety. That and the killdozer shrine both stood out among the Proving Grounds for me.

24:35 when I first played the game I was making a point of ignoring the main quest so I didn't get the paraglider for awhile. I actually managed to complete the Rise and Fall shrine without it tho! I put the box provided by the puzzle on the edge of the launcher so it got launched at a forward angle, and I activated the button with the box from the previous room. Then I just had to make sure I had enough extra hearts to survive the fall damage

Congrats on 150K dude! Your videos are really good, you deserve it. Anyway, my personal favorite shrine was Proving Grounds: Vehicles (or whatever it's called) mainly because my aim was not to kill everything efficiently, I just got to the central thing and made this absolute tank of destruction which was super fun. Plus since I didn’t learn that wings needed carts to actually get going and was super confused why they all failed, it indirectly taught me that which was nice lol.

It hurt a little that you didn't figure out the intended method for Drifting Flame. When I did my mind was blown. I thought it was so cool. You're meant to use Ultrahand on the candle and hold it up where each unlit candle will appear. Then when finished, stand on the button, and recall the candle so it drifts along and lights the others. _Drifting_ Flame. 1:24:57 Ya know, aside from the massive construction site with piles of Zonai Devices just down the lift.

This is a fun companion to the other shrine ranking video you mention bc I think he ends up figuring out the designed solution a lot more often than you do. This isn’t at all a criticism, I think what it really reveals is that you can’t get the whole picture of what shrines are like in this game without taking both designed solutions and creative ones into account. I really love this game’s shrines, where I mostly didn’t like them very much in BotW, and I think how powerful Ultrahand/Recall are and how modular the shrines themselves are is most of why. Sometimes I don’t feel like learning a new set of rules and standing around a room for two or three minutes applying them, and cheesy solutions give me an out when I feel as such.

Building With Logs was another favorite of mine. If that’s where you learned how to recall cheese it’s where I learned one of my favorite quirks about the game…Big Bridge. While you can’t make a comically large bridge at the end with those logs a true dreamer like me found a way. If given tools for a bridge I would refuse to leave them behind. By the end of the shrine I had fused every single log into one massive bridge that stretched from the very beginning to the very end of the level. It was so big that it couldn’t actually turn because any rotation would send it wildly spinning . It wa some of my favorite memories of the game. I love Big Bridge.

39:53 The constructs here throw bombs from high up. You're definitely supposed to recall the bombs

19:32 You want to cheese it? It's yours my friend. As long as you have enough bombs.

The first time I ever encountered "Flow" I had no extra stamina. I was putting everything on hearts. I had to concede that I simply was not ready to complete the shrine and I had to back out. That's an icky feeling.

Honestly the test of strength shrines in botw were goated tbh. its really refreshing to have puzzle shrines mixed up with fighting/combat shrines in my opinion because the combat is really fun and doing puzzle shrines al the time can be frustrating or just boring

it’d be really cool if shrine puzzles and challenges were incorporated into the big dungeon… or like if they combined a couple or more together so it’s about quality not quantity

I feel it's a bit cruel to dock points because you can use bomb arrows to cheese many shrine puzzles. I understand that as a factor to consider for replays, but for first-time playthroughs, I and many others didn't have a clue that that was a solution at all until it became widespread knowledge online. It's a very unconventional, very unintended way to solve them that's never taught in-game, so it's very unlikely the average player would discover it on their own. I had already completed every shrine before I found out.

I definitely understand that perspective, personally for me I just feel like it’s such a major oversight that it severely hurts these puzzles. A lot of these definitely ended up much lower than they could’ve been because of the target for me, but if it doesn’t effect your opinion then keeping them high is fair!

1:33:00 There is pretty major cheese for this shrine. At the very begining if you hit the orb with a bomb, you can skip the entire puzzle.

Actually with the Controlling Device it should be mentioned that most people complete it prior to the Moragia boss fight. In my opinion it makes it even better since it teaches the player how to use controllers so they wouldn't get destroyed while fighting Moragia
