I personally forgive the ME1 crew that didn't join up in ME2. You weren't working for the same organization, and joining you would destroy their careers. They also had no way of knowing how important the Collectors were.

I generaly dislike Ashley, but she's an incredibly written character and lands in the A-tier for me. She's a cut above the the rest of the crew in terms of character development in ME1, and in ME3 she has her moments, as well.

David Anderson is an incredible character. I would place him as a top-tier character. I wish he was more present in the Trilogy.

Tbf to Pressly, only in most of the first game he's a xenophobe, but willing to trust the Commander's better judgement. In the second game, if you do the Normandy crash site dlc, you'll find three logs written by him. In the first one he's outraged that so many aliens are allowed aboard an Alliance ship, wondering if it's a zoo. In the second you can already see he's warming up to them, saying for example that he can understand where Tali is coming from (on board the Normandy to prove herself for her pilgrimage) etc. In the third and final log, he realises how much of an idiot and xenophobe he was, admitting that what they all accomplished with Shepard wouldn't have been possible without the alien crewmembers helping them. He states that he's proud to serve alongside them and that he'd gladly give his own life if it meant protecting any of theirs. Sadly, that's what happens😔. Might not be much compared to other characters, but it's still more redemption arc in three logs than what Ashley got in 3 games

She can be the most challenging character to interact with and also 1 of the most interesting to follow throughout the game.

Really interesting that you put Ashley at the bottom! A lot of ME content out there is broshep/mshep focused but I only ever play as femshep. I think Kaidan's romance is so much better than Liara's (more chemistry, more interesting dialogue) and always had a soft spot for him, so I've never chosen Ashley. I think she's more complex than I initially thought, but then so is Kaidan. So it was great to see some content that didn't totally ignore Kaidan and actually had a different opinion about Ash!

Oh, I definitely agree. Tali might be the best romance option for a Paragon Shepard (even Jennifer Hale said she had wished Tali was an option for Femshep) but a Renegade Shepard. I would have to go with Aira T'loke. It was a shame that bioware didn't make her an option. The Omega DLC might have been the best one of the whole series. (Yes the Citadel DLC was the most funny with the clone fight and the party)

Joker Jack and Ashley are only characters who deserve S tier, Jack and Ashley are the most real and believable ones, with incredible writing and actually having strong negatives and positives, and Joker, while not showing much of polarizing qualities, has waaaay too good of a humor. Mordin is also borderline S tier, and I'm not even sure what he lacks of to be one... I'd also put Javic, Zaeed and Kasumi at S, but all of them criminally lack screen time to be there. Tali, Liara, Garus, while very good characters, never have any true deep dives or severe enough negatives to them, so not S tier material for me (YES I dare to say that). Thane is another crime and wonder of ME... if only he showed up in ME1, if only we could go deeper in to his story and not get it compressed af, he'd be an easy S, but only A as he is. Chakwas is more of a secondary character, but again put together so well, she's just short of A. Grunt is fun, but definitely wasn't present enough to be in A and takes too much from Wrex. Id squeeze Legion in low A, again his story very very cool, and supports huge chunk of Tali's, but damn short. Vega is clearly not a C, id say somewhere on top of B. And no Andromeda character deserves to be above trash tier, due to not only face of the writers being tired, but brains as well while they wrote them.

Miranda is a fantastic character and arguably the best love interest for male Shep. Despite Bioware's best efforts to ruin her by not including her in the Normandy roster in ME3, she lands in the S-Tier for me.

I agree that bioware shows an unfair basis toward ME2 characters, especially in favor of ME1. I think Miranda storyline romance arc would have worked with eighter Shepard. The same could be said for Tali. The way they wrote Jack maybe the most popular LI in ME2 to minor cameos in M3 was just sad. I get Liara fans will point to what Bioware did to her in ME2 Major difference Jack went on to help students. Liara gives Shepard to Cerberus and then obsesses over Feron. Could anyone imagine what Ashley or Kaiden would have done or tried to do to Liara knowing this and the fact she kept Shepard tags and armor for herself. The ME2 lI and friends were so watered down in favor of ME1 Plus, the new characters in ME3. What did they add to the story? Traynor being thirty from every female on Normandy or James wanting to bang anyone on Normandy, Javik, who disliked everyone, period unless femshep was drunk enough to sleep with Why turn Kaidan bi and still write in Steve? Other to give Broshep yet MORE options and healthier Love interests than Femshep.

@@Brinic1 After countless playthroughs, I've grown to like each and every one of the Normandy crew (yes, even Jacob). That said, I dislike how Bioware handled ME3. Steve and Samantha are simply there to appease the LGBTQ crowd. Vega is cool, but not cool enough to have replaced a ME2 teammate that had us already invested in. Turning Kaiden bi completely ruined the character for me. In general, much of Bioware's decisions were driven by social agendas and the writers' giant hubris, which extends to how they chose to handle the various conflicts in ME3. So fucking binary and simplistic (curing genophage = good, brokering peace between the Geth and Quarians = good, all other outcomes = bad). I hate the fact that Jack and Miranda don't play a bigger part in ME3, particularly the latter given how important she is to the overarching narrative (brought Shep back to life, Illusive Man's second in command etc.). And don't even get me started on Liara. She's my least favorite character, in part because of how she turned her back on Shepard in ME2, having some seriously stupid motivations.

I see that we agree on a lot, but I have to disagree on Jacob. He has no loyalty. There has been enough written about his cheating. But he gives bad advice, through out the ME2, such as wanting to jump headed to get the IFF before the crew was anywhere near complete. He mocks Tali's concerns about Cerberus treatment of her people with his snide remark about introducing herself to the ships AI, then why try to convince Shepard to space Legion part of reason is Tali going to freak. He questions Thane motivation why Jacob himself is nothing more than a gun for hire. Sadly, for me, Jacob is yet another unnecessary character who only seems to be written in to be yet another bad romance choice for Femshep. Honestly, would anyone say they would rather have a Jacob LI storyline or have Miranda as LI for either Shepard. As for ME3, I agree that making Kaidan Bi made no sense, especially with Steve being such a good character he was a good LI for BroShep and best friend for Femshep. If your going to do that than make Ashley bi as well and then you don't need Samantha, and there is a horizon link from ME2 to ME3 I sorry I don't get the point in bringing in James and Samantha in at all. What do they add to the story that Samara, Jack, Grunt, or Zaeed couldn't as crew members. You could almost see why they limited Miranda and made Shepard jump through hoops to save her is Miranda could have exposed "precious" Liara actions pre ME2. I guess Javik could of been a replacement obsession, I mean LI for Liara. No no that can't work because Liara is supposed to be the "cannon romance" for Shepard

@@Brinic1 Yeah, Jacob has his flaws, and if you romanced him, that may color your opinion of him. But as a male Shepard, I was able to bond with him (if just barely). He's earnest, courageous, and will have your back in battle no matter what. Yes, he gives bad advices, but I don't hold it against him as he's a soldier, not a leader. His distrust towards Thane is understandable as we know virtually nothing about Thane other than he is an exceptional assassin and terminally ill. As a rule, I always try to role play, and so it makes sense to me as in real life, I too would be suspicious. For instance, I am always suspicious towards Jacob and Miranda at the start of ME2, because it makes sense to me from a role playing standpoint. Yeah, Jacob isn't a great character, but he's also not as bad as people make him to be. At least in my view. As for the LGBTQ stuff, TBH, I'm so sick and tired of it. Like Hollywood, it seems that game developers are increasingly looking to "educate" us rather than entertain us. Not every game has to have maximum diversity, or LGBTQ representation. And if you do include such characters, then make sure it is in the service of the story. The inclusion of Samantha and Steve adds absolutely nothing to the story. If anything, it takes away from it as we could have had Zaeed, Kasumi, Miranda, and Jack on the Normandy instead. Same with Kaiden and his sudden bi switch. Why? What good does it do? I think making Jack bi would've made more sense to me as she has a history with such relationships. I actually like the fact that Miranda and Ashley are straight, but that's just me. I can go on forever, lol, but I won't bore you. It is simply nice to have a discussion about it :)

Tali and Wrex are my favorites. They are what I consider perfect characters. I don't like Garrus at all, I hate how passive he is if you play Renegade. Also Ahsley and Kaidan are good characters. The way they confront Shepard because of Cerberus makes them realistic.

I think you did a great job. There are some I disagree with. But I get it's personal. That being said, I would rate Liara so much lower, maybe even D list, I think bioware fell in love with her and gave her a "get out jail free card."" But because she is the best romance charter for Femshep, which says ALOT about how Bioware wrote the romances for Femshep. So that might put her in the C block You talk about charters playing dirty. No one played more dirty than Liara. 1. She alone decided to give Shepard to Cerberus. It didn't matter if she was the love interest or not. Can you imagine what the crew of Normandy 1 would have do to her if they found out her decision? Especially Rex, or Ashley/Kaden 2. She doesn't care that Shepard is branded a TRADER by the alliance, the council and media, 3. She tried to justify going after the Shadow broker, for Feron saying that Shepard was "The dead specture gunning for the collectors with Cerberus 4. If she was Shepards LI in 1, she used jealousy as justication for using Shepard to save Feron. Again, she made the sole decision to give Shepard to Cerberus. Never follow up except through sources because she is too busy thinking about Feron. Then, she gets salty if Shepard starts showing interest in someone else? 5. After Shepard helps her become the Shadow broker, she still continues to let Shepard be branded a trader into ME3. Remember how the media continues the phrase "Discraced Commander Shepard." 6. She contacts Hackett about the archives on Mars but not to help Shepard, who is under house arrest and lost command of the Normandy. 7. Why on Mars she keep talking to Ashley/Kaden about how brutal Cerberus is knowing she was the one who gave Shepard to them. Again, can you imagine what Ashley/Kaden would have done or tried to do Liara if they knew? 8. She claims Miranda office in ME3. Especially a bitch move if Miranda became Shepard love interest plus despite how bad she treated Shepard she suggested that Shepard forget Miranda and come back to her. 9. Finally, in the Cerberus HQ Shepard shows doubts that he or she may be nothing more than a VI does she apologize? No. She tries to play if off the she just knew Shepard was real. Every other character in the came Shepard can call out for bad decisions or disloyalty and hold them accountable accept the one who uses and betrayed Shepard the most. Why?

There are so many to list! I'll do my top five faves and top five dislikes! :D #1 F/M Shapard Top Favs. Thane Krios - (I'm a sucker for bitter-sweet tragedy) Garrus Vakarian - (on par with Thane). Best F/M romance in ME3. Well worth suffering the lame one in ME2. Bestie to either Shepard. Tali Vas Normandy. - Her character truly developed and grew. I adore her as a romance and friend option. Joker. - Just because. I love some surly snark! Miranda Lawson - This one shocks me because I kinda hated her at first. She grew on me. Dislikes Ashley Williams! - Gods, I agree. She is annoying, and her character doesn't grow at all, she just has a glow-up. Boots with heels... eye roll. Jacob Taylor - (The Prize) Nuff said. (Also boring as hell) Cora Harper (Boring and friggen repetitive. She is too defined by training with the Asari. I wanted to tape her mouth shut. Liam Kosta - Poor Liam. The writing was so bad for this character, it caused immense dislike. Foster Addison - Her face made me tired. 😂

@@killmonger5097 I have had all conversations available with Ashley. I've let her live, and or, Kiadan. I've played the trilogy so many times since releases that I likely owe Bioware money back. :D I do not feel her character had enough growth. I also feel Bioware dropped the ball on Ash and Kaidan in ME3 and they were little more than superfluous fanfare without depth. The main focus was on Liara (as expected) I truly hate when BW forces a particular character as the OG under the guise, it's the player's choice. Of course, this is solely my opinion. They pushed really hard for Liara to be M/F /Shepards sweety pie. Tali and Garrus had a major role upgrade because they were truly fan favorites. Mine too! We all have our opinions, likes, and dislikes. It doesn't make us right or wrong. It's all subjective. Edit to add: I even romanced Ash with my M Shep. Although, she was tossed over for Tali in ME2. :D I tried out all of the romances with every available character between ME1 and ME2. I took a pass on ME3 new additions because...why? Meh. No history and no buildup. No thanks!

I think Ashley is a great character, interesting and a lot of fun to watch on screen. Having said that, you simply cannot make a case for her as a love interest given the fact that she questions Shepard's judgment throughout the trilogy (ME1 because of the aliens, ME2 because of Cerberus, ME3 because of Udina manipulating her). I get her reasoning in ME1 and ME3 (barely), but not in ME2, where she basically turns her back on Shepard after seeing him for the first time in over two years (and after thinking he'd been dead this whole time). I can't see anyone doing that to the person they love. In general, she isn't the most loyal love interest and runs her mouth a bit too often. FYI, I can't stand Liara as a love interest, and between the two, I'd rather have Ashley.

Only one of my characters has romanced Liara for the story, however in the first game her insipidness irritated me, in ME2 she was given some growth, however she still had that insipid demeanour, by this time I'm thinking it was the voice more than the story material that got under my skin, in ME3 keeping in mind I already have a bias against her she comes on too strong to Shepard, this is especially bad when it comes to Shepards that never romanced her in the previous games, all one of my Shepards wanted was friendship not even a flirt or sex, but get too friendly and the options basically have you being the ass for refusing her advances, sorry folks, but I never did get the fan obsession with LIara. Now Tali on the other hand, definitely best girl!

Actually Ashley makes more sense than Kaiden, the moment when you have a standoff. They made her like that, that you would be tempted to shoot her. And not a hater, I just like how she is written, she is not Garrus who has your back all the time, but actually questions your motives. And she is not wrong, at least about Cerberus.

Javik is pure comedy gold. I guess some people just don't get it or take his character too seriously. Andromedas characters are almost all boring and poorly written so almost every character in that game go below every character in the trilogy. Maybe with the exception of Ashley. Can't stand Ashley. Not because she is racist. That's her prerogative. Just because she is a disloyal bitch. My favorites tend to be Tali, Liara, Garrus, Wrex and Mordin. I would imagine many people have a similar list though based on what I've seen in the community.

Totally agree with your first and last place. Ashley is 100% the trash list, and the second Tali started quoting Minsc with "go for the optics," I knew she was the best. And I swear, if my Shepard comes back from 600 years to find that Liara and Javik were repopulating the world with prothean asari, I'm turning the reapers back on. I disagree with Cora though, i feel like she was the apology for Ash being so racist. Cora was the "good soldier" we deserved with the right amount of dreamer without being naive.

By your definition of racism, this game is full of it. Look how other races treat humanity, or the lesser races in the game. It goes both ways, and to point out one or two characters in the game says more about you than the writing in the game. Look how every race treats the Quarians, including most humans.

The 1st person you don't like is Ashley cuz you assume she's racist because even though you lack the understanding that if Ashley was racist then she wouldn't have told the guy in that Terra Firma group after Virmire that she doesn't like them because they're racist against aliens! Oh you didn't know she said that did you? Of course not because you're too busy accusing her of something she's not. In fact if you actually interacted with her you'd know that she said she doesn't think humans are better than aliens which is the opposite pov racist people think Also in ME 2 she didn't go with Shepard because she's a generational soldier which is no different than generational soldiers from both the past and present. Like she said it's in her blood because of this reason it's more understandable why she didn't join Shepard on Horizon. Or did you also forget her family is blacklisted and she's trying to make up for it so going with Cerberus would've done more harm than good Kaidan on the other hand didn't have that same pressure as Ashley so him not going with Shepard is more of a slap in the face to Shepard because he didn't have the same loyalties to the Alliance like Ashley did I can't expect everyone to understand that their biased beliefs based off their lack of understanding of the whole story which is what makes them wrong and misinformed will have the same opinion that I have so all I can say is that some people need to pay more attention to things before jumping to the wrong conclusions about people

Agree. Ashley is a great character. Kaidan as well. I find it hilarious that people say Ashley is racist but they completely ignore Garrus being a racist c*nt to both Tali and Wrex in regards of their species during elevator banter in ME1. Ashley even supports Tali when she is feeling down about prejudice against Quarians. Yeah, she's the racist one somehow. Altho Tali and Wrex are still my favorites.

Ashley is no worse than C, Jaal is the best character in Andromeda, Aria is the most overrated character in all of Mass Effect, Joker and Liara should be no higher than A, Miranda should be lower as should Traynor AND Cortez, Kallo and Pressley should be higher...and where the hell is David Anderson?!

For me I put Ryder and every teammate from andromeda in the trash tier. I tried but I couldn’t feel a single thing for any of them and that was the most disappointing thing bout that game. I would put my least fav character from trilogy over all of them lol
