I just started my first playthrough of Skyrim this month. I'm bad at following story/progression and basically freely wandered around and ended up in Solitude as my first 'city'. Had been getting curious about houses since Proudspire is here and, of the handful of videos I've watched on houses, you by far were my favorite. Pacing was nice, good mic quality, showcased everything well, and it isn't unnecessarily long. 10mins was a perfect length for the houses instead of some that were like 30+ imo.

Just a friendly feedback: you should "sync" the video with the commentary. If you're talking about the mannequins of the second floor, we shouldn't still be looking at the alchemy table in the first floor. Vlindrel Hall is my favorite. From the first time I walked in. Loved it immediately. My least favorite is Severin Manor. Not having to spend money on furnishings was nice, but it's too poorly lit. I didn't like that. The problem with Hjerim is it's creepy as fuck living in a house that you know was the scene of multiple brutal murders, and you have to play through a bunch of the civil war storyline to get it, which is just...ugh. But the house itself is indeed baller.

@LightDragonite3 жыл бұрын
@@thedenmen4176 I understand but to me it is a turn-off. It doesn't matter how wonderful the house is inside. The fact that you know what happened in that house kind of is a factor. If someone was selling these house like a realtor, the minute that they mention the murders, many buyers would turn it down unless you like that a murder squatted in the house you are about to buy. Now, if nothing happened to the house, it would probably be a big seller. But with the fact there was someone doing murders in the house would probably cause it be unsold for a long time. The house is awesome though and you did a good job describing how great it is. Plus a secret room is awesome. The only other place with a secret room is in the inn where Delphine resides.

Breezehome is also more conveniently located right at the city entrance and in Whiterun, the most centrally located city in Skyrim. That counts for quite a bit. Proudspire Manor hands down. Perfect place to settle a family. Think about my retired life as the Dragonborn and an adventurer: my son joins the legion and becomes a hero of the empire, my daughter goes to the bards’ college pursuing her dreams, my wife goes to Radiant Raiment and haggles with the elven sisters everyday, Jordis Sword maiden becomes the sword maid, and me, I go the blue palace everyday just to have pointless squabbles with Erikur, so I can get my pay checks as a thane. In the evening I go the Winking Skeever, order some roasted lamb leg, then hangover with 3 bottles of Surilie wine. When my wife finds out that I’m drunk and causing troubles, she asks one or two Solitude guards to help her dragging me back home. Then that’s a day when I gets old in Skyrim. Breeze home is probably just a secret place for me to date Ysolda and Lydia, probably Serana too. The underground bunker in Raven Rock is just for Black Book reading party. The Markarth house? Nah I never triggered the Cidhna mine quest. Every time I go to Markarth I kill all the guards. Plus stone bed isn’t my thing. Riften house? Better not store any item there, or you’ll find it for sale at one of the merchants in Ragged Flagon. Windhelm house? Probably consider it in my next if not next after next necromancer playthrough.

I really love the hearthfire houses due to their customization options, plus you can easily just make 1 of everything so that each house has it's own value, especially if you add cooking mods for the kitchen. My second favorite house and the first mentioned in the video is Breezehome. Honeyside is one of the best homes. It has direct access to the outside world, and its compactness is a benefit. You want to move quickly between your storage and your stations not be running in-between rooms or between floors. It's not like you're going to be sitting around for 2 or 3 hours in your home just taking in the view. You drop some stuff off, do a few enhancements / alchemy things, maybe rest and then you're out of there.

I love the Hearthfire houses. There's just something fun about fiddling with it between quests while dropping off gear. I enjoy the Greenhouse add on to the house especially. As someone who always dabbles in Alchemy it is a great spinning point for bees, butterflies, glow bugs and Luna moths which all spawn near plants. It's also very pretty once you plant the right items. The Trophy room is also cool. I love having towering statues of bears, wolves and Sprigins. The basement is also convenient because you conveniently get shrines for all 9 gods in case you want the added bonus of one of their blessings. Plus free horse. I actually killed all the horses one play through accidentally and was saved by the horse after buying it from my steward. Also I enjoy all the random encounters from giants to necromancers to Dragons whose corpses fast travel with you as you try to leave them behind at your house

I feel like houses should be much more expensive. In Oblivion it felt like I needed to actually save up money to purchase them, but in Skyrim it's so easy to get filthy rich that by level 20 you always have over 100,000 gold and you can just buy whatever you want with reckless abandon

I never really considered the importance of weapon racks and mannequins bc I usually end up selling all my stuff but you’re right, they add a much more personal touch to the home. One thing I despise about honey side is the lack of storage in the cellar. As an alchemist I definitely need a chest for all my ingredients, and usually an extra storage for excess potions that I intend to sell.
@Trephining2 жыл бұрын
I just got Honeyside recently, and I use one of the barrels at the top of hte basement steps for my alchemy ingredients. Then the tall wardrobe to the right of the bed is where I put all my hundreds of extra potions that I can't even begin to use or sell.

i would put honeyside up WAY higher on the list because, with the other houses, you have to leave your house and then the city to get places, you can leave riften straight from honeyside, you also get the garden outside the house, which is also unique to honeyside.

May be an unpopular opinion, but i dislike large video game houses. For me i always end up going to the same two rooms, so i never start to feel at home in most of them. This is especially true for skyrim, where you don't have see through Windows, so because of long hallways and stuff feel tighter to me, than the small ones with just two or three rooms

My favorite house will always be Severin Manor. My only issue with it is you can't have a family there. If you marry one of the very few options on solsthiem you can have them live there but you can't have kids there. Which honestly feels like such a missed opportunity since Raven rock is such a cute and homey town to live in. I honestly love Solsthiem.

Severin Manor is by far my favourite home. It’s super cozy, and it feels really good to get it as a reward. The dunmer people are culturally... unwelcoming, I guess, so it really gives me the warm and fuzzies to be welcomed in Raven Rock like this. The only problem I have with it is that my family can’t live there. There are two marriage candidates already living on Solstheim who can move in with you there, but that’s it.

On this list, I prefer the house on Solstheim the most cuz it doesn't require further upgrades, and Proudspire is a good second. If you ever get tired living in one of your houses, check this place out: Harmugstahl, a nice small fort in the reach, near a dragon lair. Kill the wizard and his magical spiders first. Broken Oar grotto, a large pirate cave. There are several sunken boats and containers, the living quarter is made off of a ship's cabin. The Katariah. The ship that was used by The Emperor. These three locations are non-respawning places, meaning you can safely store your items in their containers. Just make sure you clear the place first and finish their related quests. There are many non respawning places in Skyrim, but these three are the only ones that come to mind.

@thedenmen41763 жыл бұрын

I would almost put these in a very different order. Honeyside is my favorite followed up by breeze home, then proud spire, Hjerim, Vlindrel hall and Severin in last. The problem with the bigger houses is it takes longer to navigate them. Vlindrel would be great if you didn't need to hike up a mountain every time you want to go to it and Severin being in the dragonborn area just puts it too far away. there is also what is near by to take into account with all homes making the big ones ever worse since it is a jog to the stores while honey side and breeze home are right next to the markets.
@Bobzilla_Returns3 жыл бұрын
Personally Heljarchen Hall is my favourite it’s location is really good as it is sort of in the middle of Skyrim so really wherever you are you are near enough to it to walk. Obviously you can fast travel to places but I like walking everywhere and that makes heljarchen hall a good location. I also like it cos u can modify it to your preferences.
