Bowser is intended to “load in” earlier. This way, you can have the player go down a hallway leading to him while dodging fireballs, much like in his appearances in full previous Mario games.

Not too many players know this but you can negate bowser's fireball spam completely by simply building the boss room in the beginning of the level if the creator has the player spawn behind bowser he won't shoot fireballs since bowser himself cannot turn around

Just thought it was worth mentioning, putting wings on bosses other than Meowser gives them some unique mechanics as well. For example, on Morton he fakes you out before doing his ground pound, and Ludwig starts flying above you instead of flutter jumping. I’m sure you can create some unique boss fights out of those as well.

I found a good setup for a lot of the Koopalings. I’m going to talk about Wendy and Lemmy, but I made a boss rush level that incorporates my ideas here: FJW-JGX-2WG. It’s hard, so if you’re up to the challenge please give it your all. There is a viable strategy to pass every boss. First of all, both require a small, or at the very least medium sized rooms so their abilities are a challenge. For Lemmy, the room needs to be smaller (low roof as well) and the edges of the platform need to have an opening to fall in lava. I put spikes on the outer walls to prohibit wall jumping, but that’s up to you. This requires the player to actually avoid the balls so they don’t get pushed into the lava. For Wendy, I used a medium sized room that lets her rings actually move more efficiently in a way to prohibit movement to the player. Wendy herself is actually very agile and athletic, making her hard to hit. So, I thought springs may be a viable option to go with her. This allows her to become harder to hit, as well as giving the player the disadvantage as if they were actually invading enemy territory. When in her shell, the springs make her harder to avoid as she’ll be bouncing in a lot of places on the map, and with the springs and rings still in the arena it’ll make it harder to avoid. There are safe spots and certain cues you can find to help avoid her while she’s in her shell. The springs are very strategically placed for this reason.

I tried to recreate Larry’s SMW fight. It was chaos. I had a huge seesaw that would sometimes make me get hit by the Lava Bubbles and Larry himself. The jumping shell attack is nearly impossible to dodge. I even died after I beat the boss due to being hit by the bubbles or falling into lava while trying to align the seesaw with the locked door.

You've got to consider that in the New Soup series in general, Ludwig has been the seventh Koopaling you fight, and therefore the last one. It makes sense that he's tougher. Also, I have an Iggy bias, but you don't give him much credit. Again, with wings, he moves very well, and his magic bolts and shell spin in New Soup U game Style are faster than any other Koopaling ever.

CesminorYT little timmy levels are just really garbage levels in super mario maker 2 because they put random enemies everywhere including bosses, ground and items in random places etc which is not creative and not fun to play. I had dreams about the Koopalings being in Mario Maker 1. And I remember that in those dreams Iggy, Lemmy, and Larry look the exact same in the real games than in the real game, with the weird mouth that Bowser Jr. Also had. It was Awesome when I first saw it

You can VERY easily stop Roy from digging. 1 Add Sideways Trampolines as the floor or 2 place him on a Muncher. Also, my favorite boss in Super Mario Maker 2 is Meowser. He is either used for A, following you for the entire level or B, only being in a sub-area so you could make the Sub-area a vertical section where you run from Meowser to defeat him at the end and I am a huge fan of a level within a level type of boss fight.

How I’d set up Koopaling fights: -Larry: Has parts of the arena that shift up and down, akin to his NSMBW fight. Hard mode has Bullet Bills fired from the platforms and the walls, making the battle very hellish. -Roy: Uneven terrain makes his digging unpredictable, and a lack of ceilings (except for his arena) prevents escapes. Hard mode adds Sledge Bro flunkies respawning from pipes. -Iggy: Fought in a Fire Koopa Clown Car, in shoot-em-up style. Hard mode has spiky walls that can stun your car, and adds flying spinies to scatter spikes. -Wendy: Fights you in an enclosed arena, so her rings don’t leave the arena, and she becomes really annoying if you don’t hurry up. Hard mode has you face against two at the same time. -Lemmy: Has a high ground that you must reach to attack him. Hard mode makes the ground slippery, making it easier to fall to your doom. -Morton: Has an arena with walls that shrink in, making his shockwaves harder and harder to dodge as time goes on. Hard mode adds spike top spawners. -Ludwig: Arena has no stable ground, instead is consistent of several moving platforms. Hard mode forces you to fight two, creating a mini bullet hell.
